You may go now, Chas. |
I likely have lived in the DMV for far longer than you (not that it matters when you're discussing NATIONAL leagues) |
It is fun going to Jeff Cup to just end up playing other PA/NJ teams in the finals. |
Jeff Cup is starting to suffer as well. we don't go there anymore. sad to see. it use to be a good tournament. after the showcase level, they get the rest of the levels pretty wrong. I expect the CASL tournament in North Carolina this year the first week of dec going up against the GA tournament in California and the ECNL tournament in Kansas City that moved jp a week. so all 3 tournaments on the same weekend. |
Never give advice unless asked. The wise won't need it and the fools won't heed it. |
who thinks when you play a club the players are from that area. Top national clubs roster players from surrounding areas and regionally and in some instances nationally. How isn't this common knowledge? |
Hawks 06/07 Team all 18 rostered D1 college commits back in Oct 2024, 2nd highest rate in the country behind Slammers Koge. That reputation is how they get players and how they are very much currently relevant (not to mention their long list of players going on to pro and national teams). Most on this board want their daughters to play D1 college and if your in Hawks area and make that team, and even sit the bench, playing D1 is reality. |
That is impressive but overstating it a bit (Very ECNL). Yeah, there are the years like that and it makes sense if you can assemble the best players from a state/region (which some might say is their priority over individual players who might be extremely talented but get bumped). And there are years where many players are only listed as going to the local colleges, plenty of non-D1. So, there is a Hawks mystique -- and no doubt many people get what they want and need from there -- but the problem is when you start digging into that club, it has its red flags, too, especially lately with some of its coaching issues (although it does appear they have taken steps to clean things up). That's why -- especially with the rise of the Nationals (and strong competition from the GA Jags) AND with its brother club which it shares facilities and who just happen to be MLSN starting a girls program, they definitely have their work cut out for them to stay on top. |
Not sure how accurate this is (and maybe warrants its own thread) but according to this ECNL is 53-2 vs. GA in Virginia? Could that be right, and would that be true now after recent changes? ... https://youthsoccergames.com/ecnl_vs_ga |
it's right |
It will change with all the new GA clubs. |
I am not sure I had seen this before- the ECNL changes in one place for next year:
General 4/9/2025 5:37:54 PM ECNL ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF PROMOTIONS FOR 2025-26 SEASON The ECNL’s proven pathway on full display with more than 20 promotions RICHMOND, Va. (April 9, 2025) - The ECNL is proud to announce that the league has promoted 24 clubs into ECNL Boys or ECNL Girls for the 2025-2026 season, showcasing the league’s proven pathway for clubs and players and its continued emphasis on rewarding performance while providing the best standard of competition in the country. These 24 clubs will move from many different ECNL Regional Leagues to the ECNL, each promotion earned through regular season results in the ECNL Regional League, performance at national events, and post-season success - usually over multiple years. “Promoting clubs into the ECNL Boys is one of the most exciting times of the year because of what it means to these players and coaches to see their hard work, dedication and commitment rewarded,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney. “With these new clubs coming into ECNL Boys, all of whom are aligned with our league values and vision, the future is brighter than ever and the quality of competition will be higher than ever. The ability to point to demonstrable competition results for these decisions is a major differentiator for our league, and a driver of stability and transparency in the soccer market overall.” “The ECNL Girls competition standard is totally unmatched by any other league, by every objective metric, and it has been that way for many years” added ECNL Girls Commissioner Ralph Richards. “That competition standard rises every year through the great work of the clubs and players, and the club additions and subtractions this year prove that even more. With the addition of top teams from the ECNL RL in multiple different regions, the league is a proven pathway for every player, coach and club in the ECNL Regional League and will propel America’s top talent forward.” With these promotions, the ECNL will be home to 15 boys conferences and 10 girls conferences in the 2025-26 season, and will include 24 ECNL regular season events across all age groups. For the billionth time recruiters don't shop for players at events. They have a list of players that have reached out to them about attending their school. The list is generally vetted with grades and parents ability to pay. This is what they're going to see. From there recruiters might chat with a DOC or coach they know asking if an XYZ type player is available and would be interested in their school.
Shopping for players at events doesn't work because everyone will want the same 5-6 players and only 5-6 colleges are going to get those players. Players just need to put in the work reaching out to the schools they want to play for to get on their radar. Also let your coach, doc, college liason, etc all know what you're looking to do so they can help out as much as possible. There could be 10000 recruiters or there could be 15. The only ones that matter are the ones that are there to see you play. |
Once you wrote “parents ability to pay” we knew everything after was BS. |
Parents ability to pay is one of the factors, or are you one of the people that think all scholarships are full scholarships 😂 |
