Tired of people talking out of their a$$es on this

+1. That's a great thread. I don't love the right wing nut jobs who need a gun to go to the grocery store, but I also don't like the social justice warriors making up facts to suit their narratives. Centrism feels lonely these days.

there’s nothing in that thread that changes the fact of armed and organized white militias showing up at protests against police violence against black people. your centrism is not as clear eyed and clever as you think it is.

I'm not right wing and I don't like what he did at all. Why would you assume that anyone who disagrees with you on any particular case is automatically right wing? Must we always agree on everything?

Of course not. But given hos social media posts and affiliations, I think it is safe to say he was a radicalized young man.

Way to miss the point, genius. It's possible for the 17 year old to be a shitty person making shitty decisions for shitty reasons who is also not guilty of murder because he was chased and had good reason to believe he was being shot at when he opened fire himself. I don't know that's what happened. But your disingenuous description deliberately cherry-picks some facts and omits others because you want it to sound like he opened fire in cold blood on a peaceful bunch that was doing him no harm. You're as bad as the right wingers who desperately want this to be a clear cut fight of good versus evil. Life is more complicated than that.

There IS video of the guy that got shot first being aggressive and saying “shoot me” to the armed guys who were backing away. He wasn’t protesting he was trying to pick a fight. He is on video being held back from charging the guys with guns. Centrist means that you look at things without bias. You can not support stupid gun nuts while also seeing issues with a man charging at people using fighting words and chasing people while literally asking to get shot.

Sure. But being radicalized right wing isn't a crime.

Centrist/leftist/right winger, who cares. There’s three less looters on the streets of Kenosha tonight; two of them won’t be back, the third will probably consider that he was 11inches away from the business end of an AR when it went off and hit his arm and I am willing to bet that he will rethink his life plan after this.

My guess is he will vote for trump.

he was an armed and likely white supremacist vigilante who crossed state lines to “protect” against police violence protestors. Those are the facts. Whether he will be convicted I don’t know, but the point is the armed and violent and organized white vigilantes are out.

If you make bad life choices, there is no guarantee you will ever have the opportunity to correct them.

Do we know when that happened, though? Was it 10 minutes earlier, an hour earlier? Was the shooter there? I thought I read he wasn't present, and not sure when it took place exactly.

The first guy who died - Joseph Rosenbaum - is being touted as a sex offender with a minor. Rosenbaum was 36 and the crime took place in 2002. When Rosenbaum was 18.

I’m just adding this because I felt like this throw away talking point needs more context. Likely this was a Romeo-Juliet romance where he had sexual contact with someone close to his own age (eg, he was 18 and dating someone who was 16).

A lot of states have loosened these laws in recent years, because the charges are so damaging to young people. But in 2002, the old laws were strictly enforced and lives ruined. I’d like to have more context on this particular case.

ffs idiot, that’s not what we are discussing. this is dcum, not a jury room. kid was an armed and violent anti-BLM vigilante. Who crossed state lines in response to an organized vigilante movement. focus on that for a second.

These right wing nuts are a huge threat to our country. Protesters are not. And protesters should not damage property and should be accountable for thre damage they do. But it is nothing compared to the lawlessness of the right wing like Rittenhouse. Watch this former Trump DHS official, Elizabeth Neumann: https://rvat.org/

it’s so funny I’m crying that you believe this interpretation is factual because you are a “centrist.”
