Yes. Upthread, the moderator basically accused "certain posters on this thread" of supporting a hypothetical claim that George Soros controls the weather. That was hyperbole. But, there are posters in this thread who stated that George Soros grew up in an anti-Semitic family, implying that Soros is himself anti-Semitic. Despite your claim to be deeply concerned about anti-Semitism, you have no interest in the constant anti-Semitism directed toward Soros and didn't blink an eye at the accusation that a Jew grew up in an anti-Semitic home (with his Jewish parents). You have repeated my hyperbolic claim several times as if I had meant it seriously, but couldn't once comment on the suggestion that George Soros is an anti-Semite. It was explained to you that while it is rare, it is not unheard of for Jews to be low-level anti-Semitic themselves. Soros himself admits that he came from an anti-Semitic home, and the other PP provided you with a quote. So why would I blink an eye? He himself admitted it. As to whether Soros himself is actually anti-Semitic, I couldn't say, as I am not particularly acquainted with his work. My guess would be he is not, but it's an interesting question. I traced back the quote. The original quote said that Soros "wryly" said that he came from an anti-Semitic home. In other words, he was joking. Just like I was joking about Soros controlling the weather. It is really telling how you immediately accepted that George Soros authentically claimed to have been raised in an anti-Semitic home. You don't agree with Soros politically, so it is essentially open season on him.

The interpretation was that it was said 'wryly' - the interviewing author interpreted it as being said wryly. The quote I gave you was simply what Soros said, from his own mouth.

You didn't provide a source for your "quote". But if it came from the same interviewer who said that it was said "wryly", then you left out important context. Again, it is very telling that you so readily accept that Soros would seriously say such a thing. The man and his family escaped the Nazis. They witnessed first hand the horrors of anti-Semitism. I suggest that you hold off this discussion until the quotes are validated. The poster did not provide a source for the quotes and when I search for them, I only find really crazy sites. There is a lot of fake news being spread about Soros. Without a source, it is impossible to know if the quote is authentic.

Soros seems to be saying that the only way to get rid of Antisemtism is for ALL Jews to assimilate so they can't be recognized. That's pretty damn shitty, yes.

After all, he's the one who made a remark about the Rothschilds owning the World Bank, who associates with and donates to Farrakhan, who walks out of the Holocaust tour with a lie. But no, turn it around against Jews who have the audacity to object to that behavior.

Saying the rothschilds control the world bank isn't anti Semitic , walking out of the holocaust museum isn't a crime ( though I'm not sure why he went there to begin with ), donating money to Farrakhan if in violation of campaign finance laws should be met with the appropriate reprimand .

I think saying that the Rothschilds control the World Bank is anti-Semitic -- if you know that the Rothschilds are Jewish. If you don't know that, it is no different than saying the Smiths control the World Bank and that is obviously not anti-Semitic.
