ISLAMIC CARD: here is what Jeff posted on page 6 of this thread (a statement from Awan's lawyer, and a disgusting display of playing the Islamic card):

Here is a statement from Awan's lawyer:

Statement on the Imran Awan Case

Washington, DC: The attacks on Mr. Awan and his family began as part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives. For months we have had utterly unsupported, outlandish, and slanderous statements targeting Mr. Awan coming not just from the ultra-right-wing "pizzagate" media but from sitting members of congress. Now we have the Justice Department showing up with a complaint about disclosures on a modest real estate matter. To an extent, the situation speaks for itself.

Mr. Awan’s family is presently staying with extended family in Pakistan because he and his wife were both abruptly and unjustly fired, leaving them without a reliable source of income to pay typical U.S. living expenses, and because extremist right-wing bloggers were beginning to harass them and their children—even going to their children’s schools. Mr. Awan has stayed in the U.S. to earn some income to manage this situation as best as possible. He attempted to travel this week to see his family for the first time in months. The government had been informed he would travel and had stated no objection. Yet on Monday night he was hastily arrested at Dulles airport.

Because we are confident in the integrity of the U.S. justice system, we are confident that Mr. Awan will soon be able to clear his name and get on with his life. Neither Mr. Awan nor his wife have ever had any intention to “flee” the United States. They are U.S. citizens who have built a full life and have a strong community life in this country. They will stand and fight whatever charges are presented. Once they have prevailed, we will have a chance to more closely examine the ugly political and media dynamics that have driven this controversy from the beginning.

There have been several anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistani posts in this thread. Islamophobia doesn't explain everyone's motivation, but it certainly contributes in the case of some folks.

Jeff - I believe you when you say there have been anti-Islamic posts in this thread. And bigotry is always wrong.

I also believe that Awan's ethnic/national background and his religious beliefs (if he has any) are irrelevant; I have not seen any evidence implicating either.

- which is why I find his lawyer's claim of Islamophobia so disturbing.

If his lawyer has evidence of religious bias, he needs to show it. If such evidence doesn't exist, he must stop fanning the flames of racial division.

Because Awan was doing for her something that no other reasonable person would agree to do.

I'm sure that will come out in the trial, if there is one.

And until then, we should perhaps avoid the cool-aid.

As I said, the statement has not been contradicted. Do you have evidence that the lawyer is lying?

Please clarify what standard you use? On which standard do you base the allegation that Awan was "fleeing"? As far as I know, Chris Plante is not involved in this discussion. But since you are, let's hear about your standards.

You are welcome to offer that advice to the lawyer. As for me, I will not avoid reacting to the anti-Muslim bias that I see here.

Simple Jeff - every time we on the right post something, you want a link to back it up. When you fail to do the same about an actual "quote from a DOJ prosecutor" who was told Awan gave notice - crickets...

That's the double standard on your website, which is fine cuz its yours, however please note the hypocrisy. Apply the same standards accordingly.

First, you did not explain your standard. So, I'll assume that you have none. Second, you are actually wrong. I posted the entire statement by Awan's lawyer and it was subsequently reposted just a few posts back.

Again, I am not interested in your opinion of the "Democrats" standard or my standard. I want you to explain your standard. Can you do that or not?

ALARMING:

"According to court documents, federal prosecutors, and former CIA case officer Philip Giraldi, the Awans owed $100,000 to an international fugitive linked to Hezbollah."

This caught my eye on one of the links shared on this forum.

Still no reason to believe Awan wasn't simply going on vacation.

Jeff, my standard are the facts and here are two which are outright lies by Awan's attorney in his statement:

"Mr. Awan’s family is presently staying with extended family in Pakistan because he and his wife were both abruptly and unjustly fired, leaving them without a reliable source of income to pay typical U.S. living expenses,

Awan was fired "after" he was arrested. I omitted the harassment quotes, but you get the gist of it.

The government had been informed he would travel and had stated no objection.

You said the DOJ prosecutor was notified, yet the "Government" includes DWS. Show me a link where the DOJ prosecutor not objecting to his vacation? You can't and that's Fake News

Arrested at Dulles Airport. $12,400 in cash. Wife Alvi in Pakistan and $165,000 already wired to Pakistan (that 165K was for "funeral arrangements"). Their kids abruptly taken out of school.

Why did they confiscate his passport if he's NOT a flight risk???

Any thing Trump does, you're ready to convict, but on this, you're dense? WHY?

Let me tell you something, pal. Muslims are no less answerable to the law than anyone else in this country, regardless of your interest in holding them on some pedestal as above everyone else.
