really?

What ding-a-ling only has one suit for his/her kid?

lots of people only have one bathing suit. why does that make someone a "ding a ling"?

b/c if you're away for SEVERAL days who wants to spend time washing/rinsing a suit and waiting for it to dry? Take the dry one on day two while the wet one has time to dry!

one suit?

I found trunks at Target for $10.99.

Yes, ding-a-ling is an appropriate term to use within this context.

Bathing suits don't take that long to dry.

Ours do.

It sounds like you aren't doing it right. Even in extraordinarily humid climates, a suit will line dry overnight. And even if it isn't bone dry, who cares? You are swimming.

It's gross.

I care. My kids care.

My daughter has three suits from Target, and my son, who takes swim classes, has 4. I have three.

to each his/her own, I suppose

I have many pairs of pants. Why wouldn't I have several suits?

You can have several suits. I just don't know why yours don't dry out overnight.

I think that turned out to be a joke post. No one is sure where more when this took place.

This is a parenting site, asshole.

I'm a Mom of 4. You ladies sound pathetic considering 10PM the middle of the night on a Friday.

You think nothing of loading your 4 kids into the car at 10 to drive an hour? I haven't reached that level of zen yet.

If it was to correct a wrong, absolutely. A hour-long round trip is not bad. You people are overly dramatic over this 30 minute drive to meet the Mom. But, of course, you think 10PM is the middle of the night.

If the drive was inconvenient, I would have arranged an uber drop-off. To do nothing was not cool.

Packing your 4 kids into your station wagon at 10pm is not cool either.

Second smartest is the one who pointed out that the other mom could have just driven to Target to buy a new damn swimsuit (or 2! or 3!)

That said, OP, I'd a have a bit of compassion for the mom. Having a party then leaving for vacation is stressful.Hopefully she picked up a suit on the way to NJ and now settled into her vacation with a margarita in hand.

Who had a party? Missing bathing suit mom didn't throw a party.

We are people who will end up paying for you and your children as you sponge off the system.

That doesn't even make any sense.

Doubt she would have done that since her objection was that the lady lived 50 minutes away.

Read the original post for crying out loud. That is what OP originally offered to do.

Maybe you should read it. She offered BEFORE realizing the distance, then balked.

It's called accountability. Try it sometime.

Yes, where is the "reading comprehension" poster when we need her?

Anonymous wrote:My 7 year old son went went to a pool party and was chaperoned and driven home by his friend's mom. Later that night I get a text from a classmate's mom, who I have never met. It says that my son took her son's bathing suit. I check my son's bag, and yes, the suit is a size 10. My son's is a size 6. I tell her I am sorry, I will bring it over in the morning. (My son left first, and picked a bathing suit off the drying rack - so he took the wrong one.) she says she needs it that evening because they leave on a trip in the morning and he only has one. I say ok, I have a sleeping baby already (DH overseas) but I will wake baby if necessary (hoping she'll say don't bother, but she doesn't )and ask for address. I map it, and it is 50 minutes away. I ask to meet at the school (10 minutes from me) and she says no. She offers a second location, 30 minutes for each of us, but only at 10 pm, and at that point I just say, look, I'm really sorry, but I can't wake sleeping baby and drive 30 minutes at 10 pm. I know it's my kids fault but I cannot return it until the morning and I hope they understand.
She continues to insist that it's the only bathing suit they have.
Eventually she hangs up.
They are going to the jersey beaches so clearly they can buy one.
its from target - nothing special.
And they have plenty of money. So it's not a money thing.
I think she was being a bit ridiculous.

Wow. What a bitch that woman is.

You must be bored out of your mind if you think that qualifies as "accountability." Why don't you try taking on something of substance for a change?

Screwed up? It's a freaking swimming suit. Chinaman makes more of those for 10 cents.
I'd be embarrassed to call about a swimming suit.

Your son is a classmate of this mom's kid, but they live 50 min away?? Is it a private school?

There are MANY reading comprehension fails in this thread!

We have a house on the Jersey shore. We were there last weekend and my 9 year old son forgot a bathing suit (first weekend of they year, after this weekend we'll leave clothing there).
We went to Hoyt's (addresses of locations below; we were at one in Ocean City). Bought new suit for $12.
Problem solved.

No need to spend money at a boutique even in Stone Harbor or Avalon and no need to detour to Target.
There are cheap bathing suit options everywhere at the beach.
