You might be right the crabs kids may not have come until later, after you crawled back to vlc. Regardless, the comment that these kids couldn't play for madlax or vlc is obvisiously wrong. |
Yes it is quite unsettling to see adults behave in this ugly manner. But that is what you get with anonymity. It is rampant throughout DCUM with the exception of a couple forums like special needs. So I wouldn't say it is just the LAX parent, but for some reason this sport generates a lot of drama in the independent school forum. I am an LAX mom and with the exception of overhearing a conversation of some dads from another team at one of our games, I don't think most parents think this way. |
Yeah, although some left many of them stayed. All that aside, there are some top tier players on the 3d teams, but not a lot of depth. |
We never played for either 3d or VLC, so that "crawled back" comment is weird. I'm pretty sure none of those kids who made up the first 3d team and then left ever went back to either Madlax or VLC. I know only 1-2 were starters when they left for 3d. I would be shocked if anyone who played for Crabs ever later played for 3d unless they were cut by the Crabs. |
No, what is weird is you posting as if you were some kind of authority on 3d, but yet never played for them. That's weird. |
earth to parents
in due time you will understand playing club lacrosse will do very little in helping your son get recruited. the sport is NOT GROWING at the D1 level and the number of kids playing lacrosse only continues to grow. the number of athletes from around the country competing for a spot on a roster in non hot bed areas will only grow. it really doesn't matter what club your son plays for - just make sure he is happy and enjoying the sport. |
I get what you are saying and it has some merit. More and more athletic kids from around the country are choosing lax so the pool of competitive kids for D1 and D3 spots is more crowded. However the same is true in Hockey. Areas such as DC and LA even Arizona are producing top level talent because kids in those places typically chose a different sport are now choosing hockey. Same as your Lax argument. HOWEVER, even with non traditional markets turning out quality players they do not touch the same level or number of top tier talent that you see coming from Minnesota. And the Mid Atlantic is to Lax what Minnesota is to Hockey. So yes I think the cream of the crop of DMV lax clubs will continue to have a BIG piece of the percentage pie that is D1 and D3 Lax spots. That said your point that this really should be all about fun (and I would add fitness and work ethic) not college recruiting is spot on. |
If BW merges with 3D, Trig will cash out and BW will be a former shell of itself. Part of the BW mystique, yes mystique in the eyes of kids, was the invite only/all star team type aspect. If it just becomes 3D, that feeling will be immediately lost (although some could argue BW has been on the decline already...).
As for 3D, if we're discussing 3D Mid Atlantic - that club has never gotten off the ground. It's been a struggle for them to field a highly competitive team. Case in point, their 2020 team. Kids that made the VLC/Madlax Capital team aren't hoping to make 3D. I know several of the kids on Mid Atlantic, they came from various clubs in the NoVA area like Cavs, Fuze, etc. There was never a top level talent drain from VLC/Madlax (at least at the youth level). |
There are already too many club teams in the DC / NOVA area.
Blackwolf 2020 team and 2019 team are very average |
There is no blackwolf 2020 |

What is the best summer showcase for NESCAC aspirants? |
We did Elite 180 for our daughter - mostly NESCAC and Ivy League coaches. She had a great experience and is playing for a top NESCAC team next year. That camp is what sealed the deal for her. |
