earth to parents in due time you will understand playing club lacrosse will do very little in helping your son get recruited. the sport is NOT GROWING at the D1 level and the number of kids playing lacrosse only continues to grow. the number of athletes from around the country competing for a spot on a roster in non hot bed areas will only grow. it really doesn't matter what club your son plays for - just make sure he is happy and enjoying the sport.
I get what you are saying and it has some merit. More and more athletic kids from around the country are choosing lax so the pool of competitive kids for D1 and D3 spots is more crowded. However the same is true in Hockey. Areas such as DC and LA even Arizona are producing top level talent because kids in those places typically chose a different sport are now choosing hockey. Same as your Lax argument. HOWEVER, even with non traditional markets turning out quality players they do not touch the same level or number of top tier talent that you see coming from Minnesota. And the Mid Atlantic is to Lax what Minnesota is to Hockey. So yes I think the cream of the crop of DMV lax clubs will continue to have a BIG piece of the percentage pie that is D1 and D3 Lax spots. That said your point that this really should be all about fun (and I would add fitness and work ethic) not college recruiting is spot on.
