Maryland just brought in a kid from Churchill |
I know most replying to this thread have boys but Moorestown HS in NJ (public) consistently has one of the top 3 somen's lacrosse teams in the country. Excellent college placements. So can't only be recruiting from privates! |
College coaches will start delaying the practice of early recruiting. I think most of these D1 coaches are starting to realize that half of the kids they make early commitments to are not going to pan out.
The whole college recruiting process is soo flawed as too much has been controlled by the club coach who often times "hypes" up a kid. Remember, these club programs love to brag about the number of early verbals they have on their current xyz team. It's pure marketing. The club coach could care less if the kid doesn't oan out in 2 - 3 years or if the kid is socially happy in choosing that school. I really think you will see a shift back to HS coaches who will be more involved in the recruiting process. My son was fortunate enough to go to an IAC school where his head coach has very strong relationships - he had quit his club team in the fall of his sophomore year as both my husband and I thought it was insane how much we were traveling in the summer and not to mention the club tournament fees. |
Wait, a lacrosse thread? No way this isn't going to turn into a small group of parents from a small group of schools attacking each other for like 250 pages that lasts five years. |
Wrong. Unless the NCAA adopts new restrictions (and the likelihood of adopting the proposed regulations is close to nil), early recruiting will continue. |
How many of the IAC teams are ranked in the Top 10 this year? |
Top 10 locally? Nationally? More importantly, why is this on this forum? This should be on the sports forum. |
Nationally. The IAC is the conference for independent schools. |
The IAC is populated solely by independent schools, including Landon, Bullis, Prep, STA, SSSA and Episcopal. It is not uncommon for at least one of these schools to be top ranked in the nation in any given year. There was a thread on the private school forum that lasted for several years, and went on for pages and pages, until someone (probably you) asked that it be moved to the sports forum, where it quickly died out. Like it or not, the IAC, lacrosse, and private schools are inextricably intertwined. Yes, such a thread attracts your rabid, whack-job lax dads and moms, but I always found the thread informative, revealing, and often entertaining. |
Rankings are not yet out. Landon will be in the top 5. |
Doubt Landon will be in the top 5 nationally this year. maybe the top 10 |
No PP did not ask that it be moved. I did. The thread was ridiculous and became less about private schools and more about lacrosse in general. Hopefully we won't have to ask to move this thread too. By the way, it is still active on the sports forum with several posts this week, and the nut cases are still at it. |
Gonzaga will also be in the top 10 |
+1 Please keep this thread on the private/independent school forum. |
The league doesn't include these schools. That IS the league. It isn't very big. |
