Like others said above, it's sad that Tyler and Cate have had all this money and opportunities from the show but still haven't really "done" anything with it. I remember they had several goals/dreams that they used to talk about pursuing, and like they felt like they owed it to their first daughter to pursue their goals/dreams. I wonder what would have happened to them had they NOT been on this show. Maybe they would have become more productive, but maybe not -- they both came from such troubled backgrounds. |
Tyler is DISGUSTING. Cate is so forgiving of his bullshit, and I really wish she could get away and go spend more time with Teresa, who clearly loves her and seems to want to be some kind of mentor or positive role model. |
Two hours was hard to take, but I did it. I didn't give up until like 9:56.
Farah: Her body looks like everything that's wrong with the Kardashian bodies. She is disgusting. The part where she does her podcast and someone calls in and asks Larry how he can work with Farrah? His answer is so kiss-ass, and Farrah is totally removed from reality. Did anyone else notice poor Sophia seemed to not have friends at her birthday party, and Debra got through it by downing wine? Why hasn't Simon moved on already? He can do better. Weird how Farrah bought her own engagement ring. Caitlyn: Do they truly do nothing but sit on their couch all day every day? What happened to school? I guarantee Caitlyn would be feeling better about herself if she were going to school and moving FORWARD with her education/job stuff. Maci: I love Bentley. He told his mama she looked fat! I wish Ryan wouldn't introduce B to every girl he hooks up with. I agree with Maci that Bentley looks at Ryan as a big brother. I wish the fiancé would shave his beard - it looks AWFUL. Amber: Amber, like Caitlyn, needs to get off her couch and go DO something with her life. The fact that her fiancé, who has 93 children he denies having, is spending money on stupid tattoos is the nail in the coffin for me. Just when I thought I couldn't think any less of him, he went and got a tattoo. I loved how the tattoo artist was making fun of his prior tattoos "Wait, so you got 'clean and sober' while you were DRUNK?!" Amber would also feel better if she realized she was okay without a man, and got a job. |
Right, the show enables them all to do nothing with their lives, apparently. |
Cate and Tyler have been together since like 6-7th grade. Maybe there was some love at some point as they both navigated crappy childhoods together. Now though - it just seems like Tyler feels superior to Cate - bc he's not overweight, doesn't have mental issues, and is ambitious apparently according to his mom. It's like he keeps her around so he feels better about himself bc at least he doesn't have her problems. And she sticks around bc in a childhood full of abandonment, drugs and whatever else - he's always been there, so she'd rather cling to someone who treats her poorly than be alone.
In my perfect world, she divorces him, gets full custody of Nova, moves away from their disfunctional family in Mich, enrolls in college, trade school or gets a job preferably near but not too near where Brandon and Teresa live in Charlotte. She sees them a few times a yr and feels their love and support - w/o being so close that she feels constant regret re Carly - and builds her own life. Never gonna happen - she wouldn't leave and if she did, he'd use his "fame" to make the custody situation hell bc he knows having given up one daughter, there's no way she could give up a 2nd. |
I do not think Brandon and Theresa want that much of an open adoption with either Tyler OR Caitlyn. I think they're fulfilled just fine by once a year. |
I get that vibe too from Brandon & Theresa. Agree with others that it's too bad Tyler & Cate didn't do more other than sit on the couch. I thought one of the main reasons for giving up Carly for adoption was so they could finish school, get a job, establish themselves, become functional members of society, etc. |
I see Brandon and Teresa clearly setting boundaries and sticking to them re: Carly. But I also see Teresa reaching out a LOT to Cate. During the marathons, I was reminded how often she alone came to Cate during big moments in Catelynn's life: when Nova was born, she sent Carly's baby clothes to Cate (not to both of them, not to Tyler, not to Nova, but to Cate); at the wedding, she had a private moment with Cate while she was getting ready; at Carly's birth, she gave Cate a special necklace that the three of them each have (Catelynn, Teresa, and Carly); Catelynn helped facilitate B&T's adoption of Carly's brother, outside of the MTV cameras. Just a lot of moments where I see Teresa trying to be a mentor and connecting with Cate both as a mother figure, and a fellow mother.
Meanwhile, we haven't seen any similar behavior with Brandon reaching out to Tyler. And Tyler has been "in trouble" with them for sharing pictures of Carly, and they did not want to meet Butch at the wedding, or have Carly be in contact him. I think they do NOT like Tyler and if Catelynn broke away from him for a long time, her relationship with B&T would become even stronger, and maybe she would have more access to Carly. I've said it before, in this thread even, that if Catelynn could get away from Tyler and get the therapy she needs (and correct medication, and rehab from pot addiction if necessary), she really could make a living as a motivational speaker. Not as a speaker for adoption, or as a speaker from being on MTV, but speaker about the whole of her life: dealing with absentee father, alcoholic unstable abusive mom, abuse from her mother's boyfriends, teen motherhood, trauma from choosing adoption, unhealthy relationship with Tyler, struggling academically in school, dealing with her depression/anxiety, and dealing with her choice to let so much of her private life be filmed. If she could overcome this stuff, it would be an incredible story, with Tyler and MTV only being a piece of it. I just really, really, REALLY dislike Tyler. |
Tyler is a product of his environment. He's doing great considering what he came from. His father was in jail for every one of his birthdays. His father didn't graduate from high school. Tyler tried to hang himself. Tyler has been in a committed, stable relationship for 10-ish years. He's bought his second house.
Though we all hate what he says to Cate, realize he THINKS he is being a good, supportive husband. He thinks bringing up weight watchers and her dieting means he's involved and cares. Although I am confused about where Tyler is when Cate is having her family members watching Nova for 2-3 days each week, when we see Tyler with Nova, he is actively playing with or caring for her. Do we HONESTLY think Gary is the one who does Leah's elaborate hairdos? No we do not. Ryan is only a father to Bentley because he is forced to be. Simon, the only father-figure Sophia has right now in her life, seems to want to pat her on the head and then have her run off and play in another room. Michael the grandpa is a good grandfather to her, but Farrah treats him like shit. |
Catelynn AND TYLER have her family babysit 2-3 days a week. Tyler's not off working during that time. He's sitting on his ass in the living room while Catelynn is in bed. Catelynn is not "having her family" watch Nova. Both parents are making that choice. We only see a few days a month, so I could see Nova being a fun distraction while the cameras are there, and quickly going back to being Catelynn's responsibility when they're not. Tyler has gone through a lot with his dad, but he has his mom, who seems to now be a stable force. Very true, though, that he doesn't have a male role model anywhere. Both of them bought that house, not just Tyler, and both of them bought the first one (actually since Catelynn gets paid more, more of her money was likely used for them). You see him trying to be involved and caring; I see him trying to control and constantly assert himself as the superior person in that relationship. He hasn't been in a stable relationship for 10 years--they've broken up several times, he has accused her of cheating with thin evidence, he has been abusive to their pets, and he has done nothing to find work outside of MTV, go to school, or make anything of himself either. Catelynn was pregnant twice and is not very school smart. What's Tyler's excuse, if he's as perfect as he thinks he is? |
I thought the 2nd house was intended to be one that can be fixed up and re-sold or rented out. |
Catelynn and Tyler get a pig that cost $3,000.
Matt and Amber get a cat, despite the fact they have several dogs already. Matt brags about flipping a house and trying to sell it for 75K. Maci picks a venue for her wedding in Florida and tries on dresses. Farrah, well, treats Sophia lousy as usual. |
Guys wtf with this last episode? What the HELL happened to Catelynn between bringing the pig home that night and having a nervous mental break the next morning! That was so bizarre.
It also truly saddened me to see her and April laughing and toking it up in the car together while Tyler was doing it at home with Nova. They gave up Carly to break the cycle and still ended up drug using unemployed losers like their parents. So depressing and sad especially for Nova. |
And Farrah just shows her crazy more and more with every episode. Poor Sophia. |
And Tyler was at home toking it up too. |
