I see Brandon and Teresa clearly setting boundaries and sticking to them re: Carly. But I also see Teresa reaching out a LOT to Cate. During the marathons, I was reminded how often she alone came to Cate during big moments in Catelynn's life: when Nova was born, she sent Carly's baby clothes to Cate (not to both of them, not to Tyler, not to Nova, but to Cate); at the wedding, she had a private moment with Cate while she was getting ready; at Carly's birth, she gave Cate a special necklace that the three of them each have (Catelynn, Teresa, and Carly); Catelynn helped facilitate B&T's adoption of Carly's brother, outside of the MTV cameras. Just a lot of moments where I see Teresa trying to be a mentor and connecting with Cate both as a mother figure, and a fellow mother. Meanwhile, we haven't seen any similar behavior with Brandon reaching out to Tyler. And Tyler has been "in trouble" with them for sharing pictures of Carly, and they did not want to meet Butch at the wedding, or have Carly be in contact him. I think they do NOT like Tyler and if Catelynn broke away from him for a long time, her relationship with B&T would become even stronger, and maybe she would have more access to Carly. I've said it before, in this thread even, that if Catelynn could get away from Tyler and get the therapy she needs (and correct medication, and rehab from pot addiction if necessary), she really could make a living as a motivational speaker. Not as a speaker for adoption, or as a speaker from being on MTV, but speaker about the whole of her life: dealing with absentee father, alcoholic unstable abusive mom, abuse from her mother's boyfriends, teen motherhood, trauma from choosing adoption, unhealthy relationship with Tyler, struggling academically in school, dealing with her depression/anxiety, and dealing with her choice to let so much of her private life be filmed. If she could overcome this stuff, it would be an incredible story, with Tyler and MTV only being a piece of it. I just really, really, REALLY dislike Tyler.
