Teen Mom OG

Did anyone see the first episode last night? Thoughts?

I saw parts of it.

My first thought was, "Oh my goodness. Leah + Bentley have gotten SO big!"

They are already six years old and are talking and expressing themselves like big kids now!

Macy looked pretty, she seems to have matured at the tender age of just 23. Guess becoming a young mother can do that to you.

Ryan is still acting like a selfish a-hole. He doesn't look to me like he is just cut out to be anyone's father which is strange, because both his parents seem grounded. Perhaps he is an only child + was super spoiled.

Thoughts I can't believe it's been 6 years !
I'm hoping Amber can keep it on the straight and narrow.
Tyler & Catelynn situation is sad and toxic.
I don't know why people love Maci and hold her up as an example of maturity and a successful teen parent. She is in my imo just as immature as her first season and not much better than Ryan.
I hate myself for watching this and even having an opinion.

Did anyone get a weird vibe about Bentley (Maci's son)? He seemed really unhappy, as if something in his life is really off-kilter. I feel worried for him.

Didn't know it was on!

1) What did Maci want to discuss in person with Ryan? Why did Bentley have to go with Ryan?
2) Tyler and Catelynn - Tyler doesnt want to marry her.
3) Amber and Gary - What does she do all day? Does she have a job?

What do Tyler and Catelynn do all day beside plan when they will announce their pregnancy on facebook, twitter? Weird.

Well let's see his dad doesn't seem that interested in him
His mom is technically involved but has moved what is this the 3rd"love of her life" post Ryan into the house with her child
Hasn't really had a ton of stability in his 6 short years on earth.
I'm sure the interruption of the cameras don't help either.
He seemed happiest with his grandparents.

I was hoping they'd finish school and get real non "reality star" careers before deciding to have another baby.
Honestly, I don't think either really wants to be together they just don't know how to be a part or how to end it.

I've watched this from the time they were on 16 and Pregnant. I feel like Amber has made a LOT of progress- the way she interacts with Leah instead of just screaming in frustration, the way she handles Gary, even her mom. Her episodes used to give me heart palpitations they were so stressful, but she's really come a long way.

I like that they are now showing and acknowledging the cameras and how they add a separate layer of reality to what is going on.

Maci is ... Disappointing. She's a good mom (or seemed it) but the nonstop string of boyfriends who have moved in with them is horrible for Bentley. She's now pregnant with her second, and not married to that dad either. No degree. And despite all the Teen Mom money, a sparse unfurnished house which I realize is nitpicking but come on, get some real furniture and put stuff on the walls and get your crap off the floor.

Catelynn and Tyler have a strange codependent relationship. They're basically like a brother and sister who are having a kid together. They've been "dating" since they were like 12... It's just really weird. I dislike Farrah but had a moment of agreeing with her when she questioned why they were having a kid when they were just on Couples Therapy and hadn't achieved any of the goals they had promised Carly aside from graduating high school years ago. Then I had a moment if empathizing with her when Catelynn slut shamed her for her porn and sex toy career and asked would she want Sophia to do that and Farrah cried and said no and she does all this so Sophia won't ever have to. I think Farrah is incredibly emotionally disturbed and an ugly (inside) person but I hate that she gets shamed for her involvement in the sex industry. Who cares, she's supporting herself and her kid. Why shame her for that?

First of all, what does the "OG" stand for? Thx.

Yes, Maci has had a few boyfriends, but remember guys, she is still young. I do not see her doing anything really destructive to her son by having these boyfriends.

And Tyler + Caitlynn are actually brother AND sister like the above suggested. They are step-siblings because Tyler's dad, Butch married Caitlynn's mother, April.

And while Farrah is getting a lot of criticism, at least she isn't on welfare and food stamps. So people should stop judging.

And I know the "Teen Moms" are making a lot of money. The show is popular, one of the most popular on the network so I am sure Mtv is getting a lot of money from its sponsors. Look at how much money "Jersey Shore" people made, I am sure the "Teen Moms" are demanding the same or close to it.

So when I see these average homes they are residing in, I know it is all for show...AND the show.

Reality T.V. is like professional wrestling, we all know it is scripted and staged, yet we still watch anyway.

I thought this was such a strange comment by Farrah. Like she has to do this job, because otherwise her daughter will? Are there no other options?

Aww, this is where I get to feel "cool" for a minute. OG stands for "original gangster" (or "original gansta"). Basically means the first version of something that has been done over and over (and over and over and over) again.

My point of reference: I am a secret Air Jordan sneaker collector, and everyone in that game knows that OG Jordans (the sneakers actually made in 1985, 1990, whatever) are far more valuable "retro" versions of the same shoe being released in stores now. (also, surprise, I'm a 35-year-old white female kindergarten teacher, and this is my expertise...)

I think in this case, though, it means "original girls".
