Why are younger men so right wing?

My husband and I are liberals. Our kids grew up listening to NPR in the car, have gone to Bernie Sanders and other political rallies, etc.

We are appalled our son says he is Republican. We started watching re-runs of Family Ties and we all can relate.

When I ask my older teen son why his outlook. His reasons are:

My son, my nephews and their friends have found it hard to get fast food jobs and other summer and after school work. The jobs that teenagers used to do have been taken by recent immigrants.

They see their schools more crowded and nothing happens to the students who massively disrupt classes and school.

They have experienced or their friends have experienced being hit by unlicensed drivers who don’t have insurance and nothing happens to the driver. They don’t like all the mentally ill homeless when they take public transportation.

The Dem Party is the party of Obama and Clinton. Biden is an outcast whose stain on the Dem Party was removed when we kicked him to the curb in 2024. Besides, there is nothing that Biden or any other Dem politicians did that was anywhere close to alarmingly awful as Trump's clear and obvious lack of integrity. At least Dems were smart enough to get rid of Biden. The GOP nominated Trump THREE consecutive times! Idiots. Don't let your child be an idiot during the Trump era. If/when the GOP returns to normalcy, then yes your child should be free to make their political choices without parental influence.

(1) I don’t believe biological men can have babies
(2) I don’t believe in taxing the crap out of successful people. I want to keep my hard-earned money. Just look at the rampant Somali Day Care fraud in a Minnesota. Everyone should be pissed that their tax dollars are funding this epic fraud.
(3) I don’t agree with Democrats weak foreign policies. Obama was probably at the top of this scale for weak foreign policies followed closely by Carter. Obama’s apology tour was an embarrassment.
(4) I don’t agree with Democrats open borders. A nation must have sovereign borders.
(5) I don’t agree with Democrats calling anyone who doesn’t agree with them racist, misogynist, Islamophobic, etc
(6) I don’t agree with the Democrats move toward socialism, democratic socialism, or whatever type of socialism the Democrats want to call it. Socilaism just results in equal misery for all. Capitalism is so much better.
(7) I don’t agree with Dem high tax policies and big government and making people dependent on the govt. The govt sucks at managing things.
And so on…
About the only thing I agree with when it comes to Dems is the woman’s right to have an abortion within limits.

1)Democrats done believe biological men can have babies.
2)Democrats believe everyone should pay their fair share to support our country. GOP is fine with the rich paying a lower rate than the working class.
3)If you think Obama was weak, wait til you hear about the guy who gave Afghanistan to the taliban and is giving China and Russia free passes in their spheres of influence and on the world stage
4) democrats don't believe in open borders either
6) Socialism, like the government buying stakes in private companies, like the government leving tariffs and the government orchestrating mergers for personal gain?
7) there is a difference between dependency and a safety net so we don't have people dying in the streets like they were 100 years ago. Are you upset that 900 people own more wealth than the rest of the country?

Most of what you seem to be upset about are either lies spread by the right, or half truths. Did you know the day care programs in Minnesota were investigated under the Biden DOJ and 70 of the 78 people indicted happened under Biden? Did you know that the fraud was committed by a white lady?

Probably not. Get new sources of information.

Did you explain to your son that

1) automation is even taking the fast food jobs away and that is what the GOP wants, no jobs for anyone;
2) GOP are defunding public schools and reducing opportunity for all but those who can pay
3) that insurance companies are a huge rip-off, particularly the white collar fraud and the GOP is reducing or eliminating any oversight on this front; and that the GOP votes against block grants that support law enforcement at the local level (see the various funding bills the GOP opposed under Biden)

Can you dig into this a little more? I really want to understand this.

These are men who would rather burn down the world and rearrange all of society rather than change themselves even a fraction of an inch for the better. It’s an exortionist mindset. Trying to emulate it or appeal to it is a waste of time. Democrats have never successfully run as Republicans Lite. Voters will go for the real thing over the fake every time.

Democrats need to get rid of the career politicians, get money out of politics, and start running on browdly populat issues like affordability and reining in AI. Stop thinking that the only way to lure Gen Z back into the fold is a white manly man with muscles and tattoos. Gen Z men who care about that stuff aren’t going to vote Dem. But they might vote for someone with a backbone.

Obama deported 3 million people, told Black teenagers to pull their pants up, and adopted Mitt Romney’s healthcare plan. Bill Clinton excoriated Sistah Soljah and worked with Republicans to curtail
welfare. They were both by far the most popular Dem presidents of the past 50 years and would be Republican lite by today’s standards.

No, they are still core, mainstream democrats. If you actually believe the bolded, then you are falling for right wing propaganda.

Interesting, you are upset about this fraud which is like a 6-7 figure matter where the fraudsters are being held legally accountable, but you are silent about the $1.8 billion dollar fraud that Rick Scott perpatrated on the US treasury and the GOP put him in the senate instead of jail. Why is that?

Uh, who do you think is funding the republicans? Foreign terror organizations - Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.

No, they can't and we all know this. There may be 8 people on Earth who think men can get pregnant but the odds of them reading your post and answering your silly question are slim to none.

Listen, you dumbass transphobic MAGAs: for the final time: YES, MEN CAN BE PREGNANT (as well as many other genders).

No they can't and I think the Democratic party is done with this foolishness.
The whole trans ideology experiment was about as popular as defunding the police.
Society will probably drift towards a more trans friendly environment, but just like we won't actually get rid of our police force, we are not going to redefine the world to comport with trans ideology.

The trans community makes up a small fraction of our population and should have never received the negative attention they received which of course was politically motivated. They are no more special or less special than any other humans on Earth. Treat them as such. I'm confident anyone with an IQ over 80 feels the same way.

Which is why MAGA has capitalized on it, just like they did against the immigrants in the early 20th century, african slaves in the 19th century and Latino's today.

He’s not even your stereotypical trump voter or whatever. Good job in coastal city, just got engaged, owns a house, many friends. But he’s gone down this rabbit hole of right wing politics and it leaves me baffled

He decided you're a schmuck.

When the GOP and Dem Parties have legitimate leaders in place, the other party isn't able to get away with these stupid political narratives because real leaders are able to communicate the truth to the public. Trump and Biden are terrible communicators so here we are.

You understand Biden isn't president anymore and basically hasn't been for a year, right?
