Because no one checks the transport of goods as we drive across borders and it’s stupid easy to get a gun from Alabama where you can buy a gun easier than a snicker’s bar and drive it up to Rhode Island.

And mentally ill.people can walk around freely.
.

Of course they can. Because the majority of society has some sort of mental illness.

Not true. The majority of American citizens are not hearing voices telling them to kill people..

No. But you need a lot more precision than "mentally ill" to identify those prone to mass shootings. Otherwise, you might as well be talking about people with the flu.

I’m not even strongly for gun control. I don’t care about guns one way the other. I think loons who lose access to guns will find other ways to kill.

But the pro-gun people are simply annoying.

I’ll bite.
I’m a moderate, and I support moderate common sense gun laws.
Strict gun laws don’t work in a country where all someone has to do is drive a state or two over and buy a gun there.
I support the right to own guns, to a degree.
Should people with serious mental health issues be allowed guns? Probably not.VT
Should people be able to buy high capacity weapons of war? No.
Whatever it is, it isn’t working to have different standards in different locations.

You have to travel quite far from Rhode Island to get a less restrictive set of gun laws.

Mass, Ct, and NY have strict gun laws. That being said, the compliance rate with those gun laws is notoriously low.

The more northern whitetopias (Maine, VT, NH) do not because gun crime is negligible. Even Bernie Sanders has tobe somewhat pro gun given VT.

Authorities believe the person of interest traveled from Wisconsin to Rhode Island to carry out the shooting at Brown last night, the sources said.

I remember when students and teachers were shot, injured, and killed at Columbine High School in 1999.
The horrific images.
The unthinkable had happened in a safe community.
The survivors and families whose lives would never be the same.
People said, “My God, what a tragedy. Thoughts and prayers."
And I remember thinking, Phew. I was lucky I wasn’t there...but something will change...people will vote differently...Congress will act.

I remember when a bunch of students and faculty members were shot, injured and killed at Virginia Tech.

So what is the quiet part that our government is not saying out loud to us about gun control? That luck/statistical odds are the only things coming to save you and me? That nothing will be done so get used to it?

Students like Cho at Va Tech...his doctors, parents, and the school knew. He had no business being enrolled in school or living without strict supervision or longterm hospitalization. Same for individuals involved in recent stabbings. Same for Sandy Hook shooter. Etc, etc

The quiet/not always so quiet part is that these shooters had significant mental health problems. They should not have been free.

+100 this is different than most of the school shootings, more akin to a targeted domestic attack

I fear we will see more of these types of things in coming months. It’s our political climate.
