For such a rich country with plenty of brains, it is unacceptable that we have high-powered rifles and handguns and ammo belts all over our country.

I'm fine with hunters and hunting. But anything unnecessary to hunting should not be owned by civilians. It's absurd to think you can "securitize" every physical site.

PP here. I agree with you but will point out that when i was growing up, plenty of guys had hunting rifles and didn't engage in these types of shootings. We've allowed too many mentally ill.people to be free to move around and puchase firearms.

My decade at university was the best time of my life. Undergraduate, graduate and law school. I wouldn’t have wanted to experience it in a highly surveilled environment.

Hero? He didn’t save anyone or prevent the Brown shooting (or subsequent MIT shooting). He helped police find the killer’s dead body sooner. The killer shot himself Monday shortly after he killed the MIT professor.

He was instrumental in solving the case. Who knows if this nut would have taken out someone else had he not been cornered.

The killer was already dead by the time they found the homeless guy and were able to talk with him. He killed himself Monday and on Weds the police were putting out pictures of the homeless man as a POI looking for him to get info

The Trump administration suspended one of its visa programs—the diversity lottery— within hours of finding the shooter dead because he had gotten permanent residency through that program. I’d say this is a political issue.

The homeless guy had an odd encounter with the shooter hours prior to the shooting where they exchanged some unfriendly words- and he noted the Florida license plate. So…you have this encounter- then hours later the shooting happens and the shooter’s picture is all over and the homeless man doesn’t reach out to police? WTH. Instead he posts on Reddit? The police had to go looking for him and it was several days later until they connected with him. If he would have called the police right after the first shooting happened, potentially they would have found him before he went to MIT
