FG goes to RPES. I would not call KG area UMC. The wealthiest ES is RPES. Look at the FARMS rate of the ES feeders to JWMS. RPES has a very low FARMs rate compared to the rest of the ES. They are not going to pull RPES out of RMHS. That's a pipe dream. Again, I live in that cluster. |
Yes, the whole point of Crown is to get the capacity issue under control at the HS (and to some extent MS). |
RM has Derwood, King Farm, Woodley Gardens, College Gardens, West End...plenty of $1M homes outside of RPES. |
So move Cold Spring to RM. |
RM has half of King Farm currently. |
Move some elementary school to Woodward 😂 |
The biggest shock is that 2 of the 4 options keep the Rio area bused all the way to Wootton instead of walking across Fields to attend Crown HS. Dumbest thing I’ve seen. |
|
Do people not realize the importance of neighborhood schools. Especially with sports, clubs, walkers, ride sharing, and attending evening school events. And for families that they don’t have a friend living 10 miles away?
|
| Rio apartments/condos “have” to stay at Wootton to keep the demographics balanced. |
The other two options are even dumber as so many elementary schools/middle schools have to split articulate. But agree all options are dumbest ever. Can MCPS be competent once? |
Not when they put a brand new high school literally across the street. |
This is why the elementary boundaries are the ones that need to be re-drawn. Part of Fallsmead is across the street from Wootton and part is across the street from Crown. The elementary school boundaries should all be redrawn and then there will be more sensible high school allocations. |
While I'm not a big fan of split articulation, I do see the argument for moving the Fallsmead triangle since they can walk to Crown. What worries me is that if they move the Fallsmead triangle to Crown, that could mean they are choosing one of their pro-split articulation options (options 2 and 4) that also involve things like breaking up Lakewood to send a small group to Crown that most definitely cannot walk there. I'm wondering how much they see these options as grouped together such that making one change will imply others, particularly for schools currently in the same cluster like Fallsmead and Lakewood. |
The half with the pricy single family homes. |
Nope. Pricey single family homes — both detached and attached — on both sides of the neighborhood. |
