That’s correct, but we can bring up how this process is broken because of the poor scoping and demand a formal apology.

I mean, if you need an apology to feel better about boundary changes, then hopefully MCPS will read this, offer that apology, and move on.

Not really. Many kids walk to QO. Busing them to Gaithersburg is a waste. Just move all of King Farm to Gaithersburg if they think FARMS is so important.

Pulling Wayside past 3-4 other ES that go to other MS/HS to a further high school is terrible. Just move all of Ritchie Park to Wootton then. Half of them can walk to Wootton.

Busing the Kentlands to Gaithersburg or Crown is just absurd. Not that I’m not enjoying the maga there whose tiny racist brain cells are exploding about these new boundaries but because they are fiscally irresponsible of the county and stupid. Kentlands walks to QO there is no reality sending them to the other HS makes sense logistically or fiscally.

As for Stonemill out of W again no because W is already under enrolled. And the mapping logic makes no sense either.

You realize parts of dufief, stone mill and Travilah of basically equidistant to Wootton? And Dufief has maybe 35 kids per grade TOTAL. Dufief is part of the Wootton community, has been since forever. They don’t want to move schools. Moving them doesn’t help anything. Wootton is under enrolled, as you said. Just leave dufief alone.

How about just leaving Wootton alone. Why does MCPS create 4 options just to generate fights between different ES within Wootton? That’s pure evil and community dividing. Crown is built to alleviate overcrowding of other schools and Wootton is not overcrowded. None of the four options change diversity of any school so just leave Wootton alone. Don’t make the poorer neighborhoods in Wootton to pay the price just to satisfy this diversity game.

In this case, which school neighborhood should zone to Crown HS?

Neighborhoods near Crown are currently zoned for Wootton. Makes sense to include it.

No that is only a bunch of townhouses and maybe some apartments. Not enough to play with Wooton. They should go to crown they are in waking distance but to take Stonemill out of wooton one of its largest feeders is stupid logistics. Wooton is under enrolled.

All four options added the whole Wayside ES to Wootton, so Wootton is not under-enrolled when that happens. Wayside doesn't want to go to Wootton anyways. They should leave both Churchill and Wootton alone.

It's not upto Wayside. MCPS should do whats best for entire county when it comes to over crowding.

Anyway, what's the difference between Churchill and Wootton? Both are good schools.

It’s not about a better school. It’s about busing, traffic, being a few neighborhoods that go to a different high school further away when you are surrounded by and closer to Churchill. The fact it’s even an option when there are so many other schools closer is ridiculous.

There are four factors that they will look at, one of which is demographic mix. Moving RPES to Wootton goes against the demographic mix for SES. It's pulling an UMC out of RMHS, which they won't do.

The irony that a few decades ago Ritchie Park families went BALLISTIC when they were moved from Wootton to Richard Montgomery because they were almost all walkers and then were bussed instead.

But the board is like hmmm, let’s move Wayside to Wootton and not even consider Ritchie Park right up the street and convert them back to walkers, tells you everything you need to know about how f’d up this entire thing is.

Plus its more than just the Horizon Hill walkers for Ritchie Park, Fallsgrove would be walkers to Wootton too. So a significant portion of Ritchie Park moving to Wootton ould be able to reduce bussing to Wootton HS and overall traffic in the area and would be more geographically friendly which is what most people say is most important to them.

0% of DuFief students can walk to Wootton....

Besides Twinbrook, all the other feeder schools to RM are MC and UMC. And they are considering moving FG and King Farm out which are the two priciest neighborhoods that go to RM. So they don’t care that much. And moving Wayside instead of RPES makes Wootton more Asian and more money. So all against their demographics. So stop using that. Walkers and less buses and traffic in this county, should be the highest priority anyway.

I am shocked how many of these plans have walkers less than 1/2 mile (way less than the 2 mile) getting bused to other high schools.

I honestly thought they were going to clean up a lot of congestion and all of these plans make it worse for almost every high school.
