Truly, the lack of comprehension of an average American is astounding. Federal government reaches into the daily lives of Americans in myriad of ways. If it didn’t, why bother having senators and representatives? Americans really should educate themselves and scratch beyond superficial civic understanding. It’s important, especially now. |
I hadn't seen this, but FAA fired probabtionary employees.
the FAA. Jesus wept. https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/16/politics/faa-employees-fired-trump-administration |
This is why we are at this point—the absolute ignorance of the MAGA voter. Let her local fireman help out when her Social Security checks stop and her kid’s life-saving cancer clinical trials are defunded. |

Did anyone follow the hearing today? Judge Chutkan will issue a decision in 24 hrs.

OMG that judge sounds like a complete idiot.
|
Must have been one poorly drafted motion. Is the Judge aware that Elon mistakenly let go of 300 federal employees who watch over our nuclear weapons and now, after realizing the mistake, the administration cannot contact the 300 summarily dismissed workers ? |
Per the Reddit Fednews thread on this topic it appears the state AGs did not prepare well. |
The government attorney was also not prepared. Had no idea that anyone was fired this weekend. And said that Musk wasn't firing people, it was the agencies acting on their own, but also Musk is "influencing" the agencies to make decisions, so enjoining Musk wouldn't have any effect. Oh, okay. |
Ironic that people were fired over the weekend when they’re not supposed to be checking their work devices. You can’t work remotely but we’ll fire you so you’re forced to check when you’re home. Unreal. |
The government lawyer was clearly lying. |
Maybe. I didn't listen in. But more likely, they only know what their client has told them, and Musk isn't reporting anything to anyone. |
The true ignorance here is that the state and local level organizations that hire cops, firemen and teachers get a lot of federal funding to do their work. For example, Trump has repeatedly said he wants to get rid of FEMA. Did you know that FEMA provides a lot of money to state and local organizations through their Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program - on the order of hundreds of thousands/millions. These are used to recruit and pay firefighters and to run fire prevention/mitigation/training/licensing programs and buy equipment (like large expensive fire trucks). Guess what will happen if FEMA disappears -- states and localities will either fire firefighters and cut programs and/or raise your taxes to make up for the loss of federal funding. You think it's bad now that planes are crashing? Wait until there aren't enough firefighters to put out the fire at your house. Schools also get federal funds for disability assistance and compliance from DoEd. Who do you think is going to plug that hole? State taxpayers. |
I'm just off probation but I'd like to know if something happened to others hired after me before I'm blindsided one day walking into the office. So I can mentally prepare. However I also don't want to be accused of unauthorized telework so I will just have to be blind sided when/if the time comes. |
FDIC probationary employees were notified tonight that their jobs were eliminated. I know multiple people who were weeks away from finishing probation. |
