Personally I’d probably take CMC because the 5C system and location but w/o info on size and geographic preferences you’ve got a pretty wide range to choose from |

Georgetown
GWU UVA W&M Financial aid or merit, so cost is not a large variation. Major is undecided though. |
You are getting merit from Georgetown ???? I thought very few got aid. Same options, but GU will be close to 90k/year for us. |
In state I would choose W&M. |

W&M
Indiana Kelly School of Business CMU UMichigan NYU Interested in business. Kid would be interested in UMich but we prefer CMU over UMich because of distance from home Finances not an issue |
It has a great vibe, good weather, nice town, good academics. But I admittedly know zero about Richmond. If one is in state or DC wants closer/smaller, then Richmond. |
All solid choices. Is Mich that much further away than Pittsburgh? If your student wants Mich and $ not an issue, not sure I’d push another. Congrats to your student! |
| Why would you prefer UMich over CMU? Just curious. Is it because the kid prefers or if it is better school for finance. DC did not get through Ross at UMIch |
If the kid is a gunner, Stern at NYU. For business, would choose Michigan and Kelly over CMU. Mostly bc the social environment is better. |
|
Yeah, that’s what DC says. Also, did not apply to Stern. Was afraid of no acceptance. So only business school would be Kelley. Thanks
Might do MBA, so business school not important |
Maybe they are faculty there ? |
PP said FA or merit. So Georgetown would be need aid. PP, great choices! I'd narrow to Gtown, UVA and WM, and see how kid likes campus, students etc. Maybe consider money, even if the difference seems small. For us, there was an 8k-15k difference, and, added up, it was more significant than we first considered. |

Miami Ohio - in engineering school $50K
York College of PA - guaranteed EE major $34K Loyola Maryland $50k (ABET engineering department) CNU $30K instate (ABET EE major) Electrical engineering with interest in business/economics. |
DP. OP said financial aid or merit. The money at Georgetown is likely grant aid based on financial need. Grants don’t need to be repaid, but it is not merit aid. Merit has nothing to do with financial aid. In casual conversations with people, even students/parents who received grant aid frequently call it merit. It’s not, but the financial impact is similar, except that grant aid must be renewed annually based on family finances and is not guaranteed, but merit is a sure thing, as long as the student maintains the required GPA and credit hours. |
GU does not give much for consideration, unless you were grandfathered in under their old (and most univeristy's old) plan, but that has not been active for many years. Anyway, if you can afford GU, definitely GU, hands down. |
