An embryos not a child. these people are so ignorant. Get some justices that have actually given birth, had IVF, had a miscarriage, had an abortion , heck even that have menstruated, into these courts and knock some sense into this justice system.

Amy would like a word... All bets are off when this gets to SCOTUS. (which as been to goal ever since this bogus case was bought, ah hem, brought.

She really pisses us off. You know the stork does not bring those babies sweetheart. Come on amy.

This is going to get even more complicated.

Sums it up.

Waiting for the lawsuit, isn’t it child abuse to leave your “child” in cold storage and deprive the “child” of its potential!

This could get even crazier….

They can just confirm far right religious zealots as judges (which they have already done many many times), who will then say that actually the constitution says that embryos are babies. No legislation needed.

Imagine the couple who froze a few dozen. Shouldn’t they get to claim all these “children” on their tax returns?

Another loophole for the wealthy, a lawyer will figure it out….

I think everyone here with their panties in a bunch need to read about what this ruling IS.... and what it is NOT.

It is an easy read.

So that means no IUDs in Alabama, right? How can they possibly come to a different conclusion? If a woman from another state has an IUD, is she breaking the law if she has sex in Alabama?

I assume a lot of “pro-life” Republicans wholeheartedly support the AL Supreme Court’s decision. Aren’t their votes being taken for granted (as the GOP furiously backpedals)? Why is it that only Democrats have to “earn” people’s vote?

I don't feel bad for Alabama in the slightest. They made their cozy little Christofascist theocracy bed and I am delighted watching them lie in it with their shocked pikachu faces. I'm glad it's their frozen redneck embryos being held hostage as the rest of the country watches and hopefully gets the wakeup call we so desperately need.

Besides, it's better to remain frozen indefinitely than be born to your second cousin and brother-uncle with the name Pystol Reignn or Trexton Colt, so those "people" should consider themselves lucky.

I can’t blame the companies for limiting their liability, but this is heartbreaking for the fertility patients.

Wow. I would be worried if I had embryos stored in several very conservative states. How complex is it to move them to a state with more protection?

Hell, they won't even be protected there if Trump gets presidency

Even Donald Trump is desperately trying to stuff this genie back in the bottle.

In theory the ruling is narrow. In practice, not so much. Nobody wants the liability here. The ambiguity is intentional and has its own preferred outcome.

Exactly. These clinics do not need to offer IVF with any ambiguity at all and they will not.
