Here’s a radical thought. You say it’s garbage in, garbage out. Let’s take the trash can out and get rid of the council. |
One by one is doable, as a whole would require Congress to amend the Home Rule Act. Focusing on Allen as a start seems wise. |
It’s been fascinating watching the DC Democrats ignore or insult all the national Democrats that are supporting the Allen recall. I mean, we’re talking about Obama superdelegates, Democrat chiefs of staff, Democrat lobbyists, etc. who are supporting the recall. This confirms what many of us have thought for a while that many DC Democrats are democrats in name only and probably more accurately called socialists. They’ve exposed themselves for the world to see. |
You give away the game with the term "electable." Electable in DC means you have to comply with an ever growing list of check-boxes. DC voters will simply disqualify anyone who is essentially not a left-wing activist at this point. What is left to choose from is what ends up on the ballot. So yes, it is the voting habits of the residents that lead to them having to select from bad or worse. |
Doesn't the Allen recall, with a cross section of donors undercut the point you are trying to make? A lot of activists and CM are DSA, doubt the majority of the population of DC identifies that way. The pushback is real. |
Different poster. I am hopeful that the Allen recall is successful, but I really have doubts that the online anger translates to actual votes. |
| Just signatures |
You have Democrats voters breaking with a long time incumbent. And you have Republicans voters writing personal checks for a seat that will 99% remain Democrat, out of the sole hope it will be a less destructive Democrat. People are pissed and justifiably so. |
| I’m sure Allen would go chase the criminals himself now just to keep his job |

Insane shootout on N. Capitol this afternoon.
As someone who was here, DC is so much worse now than it was in the 90s for normal, non-criminal residents. Recalling Allen and voting out JLG is the message to send to the rest of the council. Otherwise, the decline will continue. |
