Eh, there’s a lot of blind person touching an elephant here. Maybe they’re right, but if it turns out that the real explanation is just crime goes up in the summer crime goes down in the winter, this post is going to age like milk, and they will look pretty foolish.

The numbers in regards to the MPD and the USAO both choosing to not doing their jobs is damning.

It absolutely is damning. And nothing in the SecureDC bill will address it.

I think it is fairly clear MPD chooses not to do their jobs. USAO at least has one partial excuse- MPD brings bad cases they can't prosecute.

MPD needs far, far more scrutiny. They whine about the defund movement but that was nearly four years ago. It is not the only reason, if a reason at all, that they aren't doing their jobs. There have been numerous stories and testimony about MPD not doing anything when confronted with crime.

Oh, it's the more recent police reform legislation? I have yet to see concrete examples in the quantity it would take to explain their dismal arrest rates.

So basically MPD leadership- I am not going to impugn the rank-and-file - has instituted a culture where they won't do their jobs if they object to Council legislation. Outrageous. It sounds like Chief Smith is trying to change it and I hope she does.

This. All this. Some heads probably need to roll in MPD. In no other branch of government workers would we tolerate people purposely not doing their jobs AND then rubbing it in the faces of the taxpayers.

Opening the forum Charles Allen state he himself was the victim of a robbery over 15 years ago. Therefore he understands what it is to be a VICTIM.

Everyone really admired the input of Kevin McGilly @KevinMcGilly with his perspective and ground truth being a foster parent navigating a broken system.

After Kevin's input Carjack Chuck did not want to discuss the realities of the issues raised by Kevin, which the crowd of attendees agreed and those online. Charles Alan then cut the final 30 minutes of questions and answers from the attendees.

He took the in-person and online audience by storm and embarrassed Charles Alan and the all the other DC government politicians and bureaucrats who have created this mess.

As one X poster I read stated, "Having Charles Allen moderate a forum on carjacking, is like having OJ Simpson moderate a forum on domestic violence."

I'm glad this woman and her dog are ok. But her immediate impulse to make excuses for the criminal, driving a stolen car on the SIDEWALK is what allows the Council and DCJL to make us all less safe. The indoctrination is deep. What is needed is to enforce laws. That used to be a broadly accepted idea in civilized societies.

As a crime victim? By who? She could merely have spoken of being frightened or glad to be alive, without projecting a whole telenovela onto the man who almost killed her. I think she believes it all, she spoke with conviction.

This is what the US university has done to young people. These young adults need to be deprogrammed. It’s scary.
