But most reported crimes are up significantly year over year in Washington DC. Some areas have seen a doubling.

Not to mention all the activities that would have been crimes five years ago but are decriminalized today.

What has been decriminalized specifically in the past five years?

This is very easy to look up. Please don't have other people do your homework for you unless you are in genuine need of assistance.

I’m noticing an uptick in these largely dormant threads. The goal is to keep burying the Allen thread on the page

In most big cities violent crime is declining. In Washington the opposite is true," everywhere else crime is dropping yet in DC it's increasing rapidly. 40% this year alone. Explores the possible reasons. Any one else read it and want to discuss? I think that discussing it is better than pretending that it's not happening at this point....

Big city crime data is literally fake. Victims don’t call police, police don’t show when 911 is called, police treat victims like garbage so they don’t call angain, and reports are never written en masse. Plus data juking.

Which is say it is far worse than being reported.

So, this went down in Columbia Heights. We will see if USAO steps up.

Chronic problem with MPD: they fail to record many crimes.

This time last year there was still lying and gaslighting on this board that crime isn’t even an issue. The pro-crime advocates know they can’t even pretend to back those lies anymore.

That was a surprisingly good and thoughtfully reported piece. But of course fails to mention the obvious impact of covid school closure which was likely the full 1.5 years for most of the kids mentioned and interviewed, as well as a significant factor in overall chronic truancy for all kids.

I do not know what the answer is. My kids T1 middle school has an extremely free hand in suspending and transferring disruptive kids. It’s very effective in keeping the school safe for kids who want to learn, but absolutely harmdful for the kids kicked out.

Oof, suppression of discussing crime in the media seems well and truly over. And yet, the Council is still weakening the Secure DC bill and slow rolling a final vote...

We aren't even a year out from Mendo straight up lying to Congress under oath about it.

Oh, “hypergentrification” is to blame? Not poor parenting?

Social media is to blame?

Yeah, it’s totally instagram’s fault kids want to post joyriding videos in “free cars” online for street cred.

We should actually pay them not to commit crime! No one should be held accountable because reasons.

These are criminals terrorizing a city who belong in jail, but social media is definitely a part of it.
