NWLL baseball scandal

One board member stated that she "adores" Ricky but was then angry when someone objected to her being on the "special committee" investigating the allegations and said she was being defamed and started to cry. Mess. And Ricky was nominated to committee to identify next "slate" of board members so unclear if things will really change. The special committee seems to be a mix of Ricky loyalists and some more neutral folks. And some efforts to clean up bylaws but if they just keep electing more Ricky devotees, unclear if much will change. And the LL org officials seem to believe their job is to protect the President and keep any conflict quiet rather than actually helping to address the issues. All in all not super confidence inspiring. Seems to be a very poorly run non profit. No board terms, outdated bylaws, lots of conflicts of interest, etc.

They put Rick Davenport on a three person committee to pick the 2024 board.
So he gets to decide whether the whistleblowers stay on the board.

They put a board member who repeatedly said she “adored” Ricky on a special committee to investigate the commissioner’s findings.

The DC LL board member who refused to sign Ricky’s paperwork (Greg Roberts) for a top player from Cap Hill told the board to vote off the commissioners because they are bad apples.

He got attacked for 2h, but I think he survived

I wish the league spent this much time on baseball rather than this crap.

Big Mike asked Ricky (again) why he had two sets of tryout scores (one high and one low), complete with 3 decimal points, for the top 5 cap hill player whose dad works with Ricky at DPR (and who never attended tryouts) … but Davenport refused to answer

A bunch of coaches and parents attended. Seems like most were there to learn and make sure the league improves and continues. One parent or coach, can’t remember which, asked Mike if he would accept the findings of a special committee if it didn’t go his way, and he wouldn’t agree. The big district guy spoke and said that little league had already ruled on many of these issues and that Mike was a bad apple that was going to bring down the whole league. Apparently rules were broken by naming all the kids involved. Lots of committees and votes. I think they vote for new members later.

The best answer may be that klisch and Sweeney move to another league as there is no remedy otherwise. Even if another adjudicator acts it will be deemed harmless error if anything. So they need to quash this issue.

The thing about Little League is that a local league gets a franchise from LLI and kids who live within the boundary either play for that league or don't play. It's a monopoly, and there's no competition. So there's no pressure to correct poorly run leagues.

I might cry if I were on that board too. I went thinking I might volunteer and left thinking no way.

Why would we accept findings of a special committee that's stacked with board members who "adore" Ricky and cry when asked about that???

LLI hasn't ruled on all the cheating and said so to the big district guy
