probably part of why George had to divorce her...he couldn't have her taint his legal career.

Got to ask why even hid it? Just give him a suitcase of cash before each case and send him a monthly retainer check. Nothing will happen. There is no way to open an investigation and there will never be an impeachment.

Thomas is a mean old son of a gun and he will die in that chair. Republicans love corruption. They want the old Soviet style system of winks and nods and the people with the power keep the power.

I am convinced that Thomas has complex PTSD and everything he does is a reaction to being in danger earlier in life because he is black.

+1 I listened to Slate’s podcast and The Frontline documentary on him, it’s really a fascinating grotesque story. Rural poverty, his father left, he and his brother got his family evicted and then he and his brother got to live with his business owner grandfather in Savannah and go to Catholic school while his mother and sister - the one he later pilloried for being on welfare - stayed behind. Studies to be a priest but learns he’ll never get a parish job because he’s Black. Goes to Holy Cross due to what’s now called DEI - they were looking for ways and places to find students to diversify their campus. He was a Black militant in college during the civil rights movement.

He will never leave. And the mean ones last the longest.

Kudos to you, truly. I couldn’t stomach listening to that much about this man.

With all of the corruption and ethics issues being surfaced as it relates to the Supreme Court, it seems like a consolidated threat might be in order.

and then...

I am not a conservative but I have to say these parroted talking points about SCOTUS being corrupt and broken - once the tide turned conservative - is absolutely pathetic. And transparent. And childish. And asinine. The stupidity boggles the mind.

It's not because they are conservative. It's because they are corrupt.

I agree with him on nothing, but he does have a point about DC being a hideous place.

A city is populated and “personalitied” by the people who live in it. If Thomas finds the city to be hideous, he’s a part of it.

Maybe you’re ok with justices taking bribes, but most of us are not.

He’s just mad that he couldn’t afford it without all the corporate welfare.

Justice Thomas a prime example of the entitled elite in DC. He earns $300K as a SCJ. Assuming Gini could earn legitimately $200K, his HHI should be roughly $500K. [Gini no doubt brings home more than, through various dubious consulting arrangements.] Apparently, that HHI is not enough for him, even though it ranks in the top 1-2% nationwide. He wants to have the lifestyle of the top 0.1%. This vote has no sympathy for the man. He deserves all the criticisms he gets. He has earned it.

So he did the financial version of “will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?”?

+1 and now it's a shameless norm. We STILL haven't seen where Kavanaugh got his CCC money. An honest judge would be tripping over themselves to be transparent, hands clean. These guys just do. not. care. They are reveling in the fact that they our untouchable, and they are shameless. Change this system. There is no checks and balances!

This is the world that the rich and powerful want and the media is making sure they get it. A world of right wing corruption in which none of us is represented, unless you’re a wealthy white nationalist leader or a misguided person who thinks you will be one day. Kind of like Thomas.
