This rings true to me, closely knowing Palestinians and other Americans who have lworked in Palestinian Territories for years and also closely knowing Jewish americans and Israelis. I’ve posted things here critical of the Israeli state, but I’m genuinely saddened to hear the news of the Israeli hostages, especially the American, Hersh.

These hostages would have been with their families weeks ago if Netanyahu had agreed to the deal negotiated. Blood is on his hands.

Yes, Hamas killed them, but Netanhayu had opportunity after opportunity to get them home and refused...because the moment he accepts a deal, his government falls apart and he is in jail.

The hostages are as much his pawns as they are Hamas's.

Another American hostage murdered yesterday, in addition to five other young hostages.

I find the restraint of the US Administration remarkable. In other other circumstances, we would be hunting and obliterating Hamas everywhere. The amount of sway Palestinians have over Washington is ridiculous. The gloves should be off. We should be in Gaza finishing off these terrorists.

One (former) friend of mine on the far left expressed about a month ago that we should just give up on the hostages, because their lives are not worth the continued devastation to Palestinians in Gaza. Basically, she feels that "ceasefire now" should simply mean that Israel stops bombing, no negotiations for the hostages, just leave them to their fates. It's awful.

The implicit thrust of your thread is “by any means necessary.” So you’ll support Israel murdering any number of innocent Palestinians if it yields the death of a single Hamas militant.

The Israel-Hamas mess is a quagmire of their own making with horrible decisions on both sides that have cost so many innocent lives. There is no side that can stand up and say they are blameless. And by this I mean the Israeli government and the terrorist organization Hamas. There are no winners here, only awful, bad decisions that have resulted in loss. As a result, you have protesters/supporters on both sides who are so lost in grief-fueled hatred, they have lost touch with their humanity. This whole thread is full of it.

There are tens of thousands of Palestinians that the American media could have humanized in the same manner as it chose to feature this former IDF soldier who was born in the USA but moved to Israel as a child. We are being indoctrinated to extend sympathy in only one direction.
