Hey! More beach house drama on DCUM!

I'll try to stick with facts, and avoid my side commentary on this...

IL's rented a beach house for a week, with one extra bedroom.
6 hour drive from us.
Invited us (me, dh, preschooler, baby) to join them for 2 nights.
We agree.
3 weeks before the trip they send us the details on the house (we had been asking for months).
The extra bedroom has 2 twin beds, with about 2 feet of floor space between them (remember we are a family of 4).
The other bedrooms in the house are no bigger.

WWDCUM Do?
Renting our own house is not an option - we are in a financial tight spot and were planning on foregoing a summer vacation this year.

How many total people and how many total bedrooms? I am confused. Are you entitled to one of the small bedrooms or two of the small bedrooms?

I would think you could put pack n play at foot of bed for baby. If baby needs quiet/dark then put him in a bathroom. Put a blow up bed between the two twins or at the foot for your other child. Personally, I never would have agreed to go on a six hr trip for two nights though.

If someone was giving my family a free place to stay at the beach, I'd take them up on it and just make do with the small space. I've done it many times so that I could take my family on vacations that I otherwise could not have afforded.

OP here. We are entitled to one small bedroom. There are 2 other bedrooms, but they will be occupied by the 2 couples paying for the house. We are not paying - I figured we would end up paying for a grocery run.

Can you push the beds together?

OP again. There doesn't seem to be room at the foot of the bed for any additional type of sleeping space. And the house has one bathroom for everyone - we can't commandeer it.

OP. The beds can probably be pushed together. That would still leave a 2 foot gap of floor space.

Say "Thank you" and figure it out.

It's only 2 nights that you'll be there. Even if you all have to sleep in the spare room you could do it. Right? The baby can sleep with one of you or in a small pack n play. The preschooler can sleep in a sleeping bag.

I've slept in a tent before with my husband and kids at a family get together. When I was younger, I was often relegated to the living room floor or even the deck. At least you are getting an entire room inside the house.

Remember you'll be at the beach! And it's free!!

Remember college? Pack and play for baby, one bed for preschooler and spoon DH for dear life in the twin. It's two nights.

How big is baby? 2 feet is wide enough for a sleeping bag for toddler. Put baby in a Moses basket or a cosleeping contraption between you and spouse.

For 2 nights u cannot sleep in separate beds from ur husband?
Preschooler sleeps with 1 adult and baby with another.
I picky as HELL, but would not think twice about that for only 2 nites.
I just did that very thing with my 10 yr old DD who is almost 5 feet tall . It was fine, a toddler or preschooler is a piece of cake. Or make a nice cushioned pallet on the floor for the preschooler, my kid does it all the time.

We have been known to put our DCs as infants in an open drawer. Is the baby still immobile?

One spouse on couch, toddler in one bed, baby in a tiny thing (rock n play?) Between beds.
