What if the one toilet clogs? My BIL stops up the toilet every single time we vacation with them.

Op, all I know, from this thread, is that you are definitely not alone!

As for the toilet, pp, don't most of those box atrocities have br's with baths? Albeit sometimes they smell the same

Plus about a million. Why do grandparents forget what it's like to be exhausted parents of small children?

+1000!

Some grandparents were clearly awful parents. They made no effort with their own children; and then make less effort with their grandchildren. It shows me what not to do someday.

I updated on page 7... but we're going. I still think the accommodations are going to suck, but we're going to do our best. I pretty much shut up for the rest of the thread since people are making up their own "facts" of the story at this point. I <3 DCUM

He clogs and then leaves it for someone else to deal with? Gross. No way would I deal with that.

I think that one bathroom for the entire house would be hard.

Did Op say 1 bathroom? If so, that would be difficult. I don't require my own private bathroom or anything, I can deal with sleeping on a sofa for two nights but having only 1 bathroom for 6 adults, 2 kids would be hard. Even for only 2 nights. At the same time, I wouldn't be ungrateful for the invite - it's not like the hosts wouldn't also be dealing with having only one bath.

You would probably only have to fit in one shower during your stay (and there's even the outdoor shower at the beach). But having to wait in long lines when you gotta go and the toilet is clogged .....no.

No kidding. Not to mention, other people's hair and body gunk all over the shared bathroom. no thanks, I'll stay home.

OP, tell us what happened.

Yet, people don't think twice about using gym showers (or gym equipment) or public bathrooms or even the local swimming pool. I can share a bathroom as long as the people that I'm sharing it with are fairly neat and wipe out sink/tub as needed, spray w/Lysol.

At least with a public bathroom you can walk right back out again. This is the only option at the beach house for a week.

Public restroom is one thing. Using hard earned vacation time for a less than optimum (I'm being nice here) arrangement, with people you may or may not like, who may or may not welcome you.....is something else entirely.

When we go to the ILs beach week rental, we barely see them. What's the point? To sleep under the same roof and have dinner together? You're kidding, right?
