Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

There is about 2 pages here of saving face for Bl by her team. First it was the accusations that they stood by. Then JB hit back with receipts. Now it’s, both sides were wrong and this shouldn’t be so public anymore (after that video yesterday). Let’s all be adults and take this privately now……….

I have no interest in asserting "poor Blake" or anything here because it's possible she is lying or exaggerating and this is all about business or face saving for her.

But I think it's bizarre to claim confidently there was no harassment when you could not possibly know that and then position Baldoni as the victim. What if you're wrong?

If his podcast host who knows him pretty well, and the actors and crew he's worked on other movies with, have all decided to take a wait and see approach, it's weird that someone who never met any of these people and wasn't present when Amy if this happened would so confident.

Sure. I guess we will just disagree. Nothing that has been presented thus far by BL appears SH as alleged. She had the right to bring receipts also. She hasn’t, and now there is all of this hush-hush talk, let’s go behind closed doors and talk about this.

Sad.

Lively isn't saying "let's go behind closed doors." Her lawyers are saying they should have a normal discovery process and that evidence should be shown in court instead of leaked selectively to the media. They aren't suggesting it never comes out at all.

What does Liz Plank know that the rest of us don't?

She didn’t. There were all these swirling allegations around him for months, and the podcast just kinda of stopped having new episodes. She left immediately after the NYT article came out (the same time that everyone was freaking out at JB in total horror). I really don’t think there’s a smoking gun there. As a highly vocal feminist, she simply couldn’t align herself with someone who was accused (by the highly respected NYT) of mounting a smear campaign after an allegation of SH. (And her other podcast folded at the same time as well, for different reasons.)

The NYT article really lent credibility to her claims. Everyone thought he was guilty over the holidays.

But she knows them. She's had extensive conversations with them on the subject of sexual harassment and feminism. I absolutely think it's weird she very publicly quit the podcast right after the NYT piece came out. If she was shocked by the allegations because it doesn't track with what she knows about these guys, I would think she'd say that just to clear her own name even if she doesn't defend them (which could be seen as disbelieving a victim). You'd think she'd at least want to reassure people that she never witnessed or heard then do anything harassing, but she didn't. She issued a vague statement and quit. It's weird.

I don't think it's weird at all. In fact, it's smart. Doing what you proposed would have gotten her tarred and feathered. You know what I said when a journalist asked me to comment on an alleged rape by my friend and colleague? Shit. I didn't say a goddamm word. She doesn't have to clear her own name, she wasn't there. She has nothing to gain and everything to lose by going to bat for anyone at the point in time the NYT piece came out.

But according to people on this thread, opinions are coalescing behind Baldoni and against Lively. Why wouldn't Plank come out now that Baldoni has released his "receipts" to show her support?

Because sitting it out is always the right thing to do, particularly when there are legal proceedings at play. It would be very dumb to comment at all.

Around Baldoni?

Yeah, after the movie came out, when BL’s camp unfollowed him and he wasn’t able to attend the premiere with everyone. Everyone (media etc) was guessing that he misbehaved on set since none of the women would be seen with him. That’s about when the Man Enough podcast stopped, and Liz plank quietly removed the podcast name from her insta page. I only know that because I listened to her other podcast and there was a bunch of drama around that podcast ending, too. But she only announced quitting the Man Enough podcast in December when the NYT article came out. That’s why I think nothing big happened—I think she was quietly waiting to see if everything would blow over. In the end, though, she was doing what was best for her brand, which is feminism. You can’t be a hard core feminist like Liz plank and say you don’t believe women.

Interesting that she cares now about not leaking after initially leaking her legal complaint to the NYT.. Do as I say, not as I do.

If you know anything about Liz Plank, you’d understand that she has to shut up here. She has no book in the works (that I know of), Trump won the election (she was huge into campaigning for Kamala and she was dragged through the mud by republicans for feeding Doritos to some governor), and then both her podcasts end at the same time under kinda weird circumstances. Seems like she’s just writing for her substack now and probably making money as an influencer. Girl’s gotta eat. I’m sure she’s concerned about making a living.

I agree that was questionable too. But now both complaints with their competing narratives are out there, the correct thing from a legal standpoint would be to disclose evidence to each other via discovery and wait for a trial to make their case (if it gets that far).

The lawyer constantly leaking stuff to the press is going to piss off the judge. It's not just this footage, this dude is clearly playing games. Like sending a letter to the Marvel people about "Nicepool" alleging the character is "bullying" Baldoni. That's a totally meritless allegation (notice he didn't sue them, just sent a letter to studio heads and then, of course, leaked it to the press). It's going to get shut down.

nicepool was credited to a fictional person (gordon reynolds) whom blake thanked in the credits for it ends with us, and nicepool gets killed in front of a flower shop

because he could still be guilty (even though i believe him) and blake still has supporters who will condemn any statement she comes out with by arguing you may not fully know a person. she has nothing to lose by staying mum, but will alienate some people by publicly supporting him. what's not clicking?

Far be it from me to do her PR, but sounds like all the more reason for her to weigh in. The "feminist who always believes women" vertical is crowded. But the feminist who defends the twi make feminists she's known for years from bogus allegations by a very rich and powerful actress is it's own space and could actually nab her a book deal.

Unless she believes the allegations, thinks something negative will come out against Baldoni and Heath as this proceeds, or is a potential witness because Baldoni and Heath discussed Lively with her.

Exactly. They now want a gag order so that JB doesn’t release anything else, else it might taint the jury pool.

It’s okay to go scorched earth in the Times, but he is not allowed to do the same.

Unless she believes the allegations, thinks something negative will come out against Baldoni and Heath as this proceeds, or is a potential witness because Baldoni and Heath discussed Lively with her.

you are right on one thing: you shouldn't do her PR.
