Lively/Baldoni Lawsuit Part 2

As a psychologist it’s been fascinating to watch everyone try to spin the settlement in the way they want it to go. I don’t really care about any of these people, but this was an extremely frivolous lawsuit that backfired. Of course this would be the final outcome. Now everyone is trying to save face- even the internet randos.

Finally, most celebs in Hollywood are raging narcissists. If you’re caping for them, please do some deep soul searching and read up on parasocial relationships.

Blake and Ryan won’t go away, but they certainly don’t have any celebrity friends willing to be seen with them anymore.

Ryan admitted his big franchise was not coming back and his only movie that was coming out since that has been pushed to 2027. Paul Feig talked about how he’d love to work with Blake again and yet he cast Kirstin Dunst in the sequel to the Amanda seyfreid housemaid movie to film next year. Blake was certainly free.

Meanwhile, Colleen Hoover‘s movies have done progressively worse since it ends with us, and Verity is coming out and they’re no longer promoting it as a Colleen Hoover book.

Poor Isabella had her breakout hit and is nowhere to be seen. Blake pretty much ruined her career too.

I see it a little differently. We are living in a time when there’s a lot of injustice in the world - no matter what side of the political aisle you are on, people feel like their side is getting screwed. It seems like many people were so invested in this case because it was just so patently unfair.

Blake was obsessed with her reputation tanking and the bad press. She couldn’t let go or see that it would pass. What will stand out to me the most from all of this is Taylor’s text to her in early December 2024 saying essentially you need to let this go and step back from this. I miss my friend. then how they thought it was all going to be over once the times article came out. Never seen a faster uncanceling. But no, it didn’t go away did it? Justin had the opportunity to get his story out. People are going to double down and believe whatever side they want to believe but there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle and we have seen a side of Ryan and Blake that they did not want to see. They embarrassed a lot of people with the documents that came out.

They aren’t going away, but they’re public persona has definitely changed, locking down comments and not engaging with fans, no more of the fun social media banter, and Ryan won’t be carrying a huge franchise again.

I don't think her cause was important enough to embarrass her friends with the publication of their private messages. I don't know how one comes back from that, friendship-wise.

I don’t like for a- holes to get away with being a-holes. Guess I have a strong sense of justice. So I’m glad she and her gross husband have been revealed.

Me too, but that's why I dislike Baldoni, Sarowitz, Wallace, and Team TAG. I don't even care for Lively that much, but it's fun seeing them burn.

Same. I've never really liked her as an actress but it's obvious to me that she's not the villain here (I view Baldoni more as a useful idiot, but the other three are absolutely villains). She'll go back to making movies I don't see and sometimes wearing an outfit in public worth looking at even if I don't love it. I'm perfectly fine to watch Team Baldoni collapse under the weight of their own hubris here.

I agree. I really don't like that Baldoni and co tried to smear her. And tonight on the red carpet, she looked relieved. The settlement makes all the parties happy, except perhaps the lawyers. It was a good moment for her, and her dress was very much the style she likes (I love the texture, but not the colors).

Essentially this whole mess has gone away, which is a good thing.

Everyone isn't, though. I mean, the rabid Baldoni fans on Reddit and a few of you here. But most people I know don't care at all and will have totally forgotten there was a lawsuit within a week or two.

I am personally disappointed in the settlement -- I wanted to get the trial to learn more about what happened. But if the goal today was to turn the page, I think Lively effectively did that.

The “public” meaning the type of people who spend their time posting mean comments on social media? Who cares what they think? I don’t know anyone who wastes their time doing that.

She does, that.’s what the entire lawsuit was about. Her intense unpopularity.

Yet she hasn’t gone away. Just as people thought they would never see or hear from her again. She probably haunts them in their dreams too.

I mean, nothing has changed. She’s loathed and we all now know it isn’t the Wallace “army of bots.” She can pay $100,000 to go the Bezos gala but she’s still not liked, to the contrary, looks tone death as ever. She paid $50 million in attorney’s fees to land in the same unemployable space.

Historically celebs don't pay to attend the Met Gala -- design houses buy tables and invite celebs to attend as guests (wearing their clothes). I would assume Blake was a guest of Versace or of Vogue. The celebs provide free advertising to the designers and also help Vogue and the Met draw attention to the event.

I don't know exactly how it works now that Bezos sponsored the event. But I doubt Blake or any other actor is buying tickets. Technically Blake could afford it but it probably wouldn't be worth it. And actors like Hunter Schaffer or Ayo Edibiri can't afford an event like that. Ayo, for instance, was likely paid to attend the event as a brand ambassador for Chanel. Actors, models, and musicians don't buy tickets to this event.

She didn’t listen to her PR team. The one thing Leslie Sloane did right was reject Stephanie Jones request to pass her the messages from Abel. Leslie to her credit wanted to move on. But jones was determined and reached out to Taylor’s friend to get to Blake.

A person can observe a public figure's behavior--their narcissism, even, find it fascinating and take lessons from it (there are many here) without it being a parasocial relationship, just like you're doing.
