What is sad about kids having fun playing a sport they like? Is it just sad because it seems like a lot of money to you? Obviously all these people paying to be on these teams don't mind the price.

Most people making fun of lower travel team families are bitter second team families that can't make top team so to feel.better they look down on anyone on a lower team. Ignore them they are the same as any other bully trying to overcompensate. Normal people don't care what you do with your money/time.

No one is making fun of lower team parents. They are making fun of parents who gripe and conjur up imaginary slights.

Yet they aren't imaginary. It's not reasonable to not know who the coach will be when committing for a year.

Not knowing who the coach will be is indeed a valid concern. I can’t say for everyone else but I called the office and was told who the coach will be.

Care to share with the group? Its insane that the only source of information about coaches for next year is this troll fest.
Every previous year, they posted the coaches well before tryouts. Sure, an odd lower level coach would be "TBD" but this year is so disrespectful to families.

Asking if you can share who the coach is. You know the information you got from calling the office?

Agree. Do they not care about attracting anyone new to the club? It’s hard enough to get existing families to stay when they don’t know who will be coaching their kid’s team. Why would anyone new take a chance? Even if they are top team caliber they probably don’t see that as a good sign.

The information they have available on the hired/not hired coaches is so bad that they
think no information is the better option? They did post a help wanted ad after tryouts started.

It’s simple. For me it’s the close drive, nice fields, chance for my kid to make friends and play/practice soccer 3-4 times a week. Soccer is fun and I can afford it. Anything else you want to know?

Funny, I don't remember posting this but that's exactly it for us too. The price includes tournament fees and winter practices/futsal. Also, since it is the local club for where I live I've known some parents for years (multiple kids in soccer). I've always had families I trust who live near me that my kids can carpool with. That really cuts down on the time commitment for us as parents, which to be honest is the hardest part of travel soccer.

I think for most people its mediocre and overpriced but convenient until they run into a bad coach situation.

Or a "no coach" situation, which is apparently 80% of their teams for next year.

Untrue. They are communicating coaches at tryouts. No idea why they havent published the information but most people who went to a tryout should know the coach except for the few gaps that need to be plugged (mostly lower level teams).

Anyone get 2nd team offers from tryouts this week? Don't want to specify age group but tryouts were this week.

What's your theory on why they aren't publishing the info? Unqualified coaches?

They run into this issue every year. They decide to wait until it is almost 100% complete vs pushing most of the information out. It is bad decision making. Nice attempt to throw shade, dumb.

They are probably trying to avoid publicly showing which age groups they still don't have coaches hired for. I don't think this is some great mystery. Bad situation for sure. But as so many people have pointed out, this seems quite common with many clubs in the area.

It’s not common to only list one coach per age group and still not have this info at tryouts. And no they aren’t announcing coaches for every team in an age group at all tryouts. Stop with the “many clubs” BS unless you’re going to provide a list of clubs where this is the case.

There are clubs that has "Coaching Slate Coming Soon" on their official website with nothing when you click on the link.

You do your own research. Some of those clubs that do not have complete coaching slates were specifically listed on this very thread. I am not here to defend Valor but the fact remains that this is not a problem only in Valor. As some have also indicated, there are indeed clubs that do have a complete coaching slate. Do your own research and go to one of those clubs if it is causing you this much anxiety.
