FCPS paying for Critical Race Theory curriculum. To be implemented in a year

Y’all see a word like equity or inclusion and immediately scream “OMG REVERSE RACISM!!!!1!111!1one!” so maybe pump the brakes a tad.

Actually now when i hear equity here i think we are screwed - if you object to crt/equity you are racist and trump lover. Those of you on the left wing really are flaming things that i hope other dems think you are extreme and want no part of your policies and ideals. Non left wing extremists do not equal trump lovers. Frankly you are acting like the soccer players who get tapped on and then fall on the field scream8ng in pain.

Excuse me?? What the hell? So now we are going to try racism in reverse??

I am NOT going to feel guilty because of the color of my skin. Everyone on here has an incredibly short term memory so I will
remind you of the words of Martin Luther King Jr "....I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

How is it "reverse racism" to acknowledge privilege? Let's look at that quote you used. MLK was saying he looked forward to a day where black people weren't judged inferior and white people superior just because of their race. You are not being judged or held back if you openly acknowledge that you have had an edge, even if you had hardships, because you are white.
Why do you find this so offensive?
Also, I would not really use MLK's words, because I sense you think he was all peaceful kumbaya and you have serious misconceptions about what he really argued for and wanted.

Any threat to counteract racism/white supremacy is reversed racism to the white supremacists. They specialize in deception and love to pretend to be the victim.

Exactly

You are all f#$*ing nuts. Hard to believe some of you can hold down a job.

Nah, you hear “equity” and immediately get sad you can’t casually drop racial slurs in conversation without getting called out.

Outcomes will never be the same until some people start taking more responsibility for their lives and those of the children they choose to bring into this world. Deep down, the CRT crowd knows this, but their nihilistic, scorched-earth approach got some of them tenure, so they have no incentive to tone it down.

Yes, until parents actively teach their kids to be anti-racists, we will continue to have generations of racism who deny systemic racism.

Take some responsibility for your kids, people!

Listen to Richard Spencer. He will tell you he doesn’t care about fairness or equality. He cares about WINNING. The white supremacists want to hold on to a system where they get the advantages. They may pretend to sympathize with the victims, but they have everything to gain from the system of white supremacy and they will not voluntarily give it up.

Well, some dude punched Richard Spencer on live TV and he slowly faded from prominence. I guess that was “teaching critical race theory” tooo.

So what? He isn’t the first white supremacist to get beat up.

For at least 40 years, virginia schools have taught about racism and jim crow and civil rights, and have celebrated civil rights heroes.

We are not doing any favors to black and brown children to teach them that their success or lack thereof is out of their hands, that they lack agency.

We are not doing any favors to all our grandchildren, teaching them that wealth that this country built, which has fought fascism and communist totalitarianism, which has raised billions out of poverty around the world, is only due to historical slavery and conquest.

We can teach the injustice of slavery, and we can teach the underhanded history of broken indian treaties.

However, most of the wealth created in this country has been due to free land and thus high wages and opportunity (often by displacing neolithic indigenous cultures, true!) and meritocracy (for an ever-increasingly inclusive group of peoples).

CRT, focusing on race, and replacing meritocracy with committee-dispensed equity, winds up either in a race war or in mass, centrally-planned starvation & incarceration.

+1 nice to see a well reasoned post from a student of history

The white supremacists have declared war long ago. They just have mastered the art of disguising the fact.

More like a well fabricated narrative of history. The wealth of this country was built on free labor by those who were raped, separated from their families (including babies), still being killed, and were forced into bondage for hundreds of years. We aren’t doing the people of this nation any favors denying the truth and refusing to acknowledge the racism/white supremacy that exists. That just allows it to continue. It has gone on far to long and needs to be addressed immediately.

I see a word like "equity" coming from FCPS personnel and just want to throw up a little, knowing the current leadership and School Board acts with hypocrisy, plays favorites, and ignores large numbers of FCPS students because they don't fall in the "right" categories.
