Awesome to hear! How many 5 year olds are you watching at once? Somehow I doubt you have 20 or so...

I feel like people in this thread think that using the letters "SN" means everything bad that could happen to the kid is excusable.

The cop posting think it’s an acceptable reason. They are taught to discredit a witness by using their personal life against them.

Cops actually rely on credible witnesses to do their job, but nice of you to let your random hostility come through.

No, it means more is going on with this child than being discussed as kids generally don't elope from school except if more is going on. So, that more is usually special needs, bullying, treated poorly by a teacher or staff, etc.

Mine are older now and it doesn't matter if I have 1 or 20, point is mine are always supervised. You should try it.

Neat trick. Still wondering how you watch 20 5 year olds at the same time, especially when you're not allowed to block or lock the door.

Does any of that excuse what happened to him? I'm trying to imagine any sort of "issues" a 5yo could have that would justify even a fraction of what's been reported.

No. That's what defense attorneys do.

We don't know what happened as the article was very vague and one-sided. And, a 5 year old isn't always accurate.

As a parent, of course you lock your house doors and good parents would have additional locks so kids cannot get out without permission.

At our ES, even if a child left the classroom the doors are locked and you have to go through the main office with 2-3 staff there in order to get out. You cannot get out directly. So, either child left during recess or it doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'd be astonished if the doors were locked, and if the fire marshal finds out there will be hell to pay!

I've never seen school doors locked to people exiting the building, just to keep them from entering.

Where does it say a child was left unsupervised?

Wait, that can’t be true. The doors have to be left o unlocked in the event of a fire or emergency. All doors are unlocked from the inside.
