I seriously don't know what else a coach can do.

His MRM 06 team has lots of very large, physical and fast players. Not much technical skills. Sorry.

Kevin, Is that you? Have nothing else to do during quarantine and decided to come here to promote yourself?

Oh Gotcha You’re self-promoting here as an indirect way to recruit parents/players to join BSC.

Oh you got me! Looks like you are still angry I had to cut your daughter thanks your antics. Probably a blessing in disguise as your DD was going to warm the bench anyways since she is a midget.

Seriously though. You have to be either KL or a pathetic BSC brown-nosing parent.

PP Here. I am neither KL nor a BSC parent but a parent whose DD played against KL's MRM Rush team. As I explained earlier, Bethesda is not a competitive club and hasn't been in some time. Probably the best player to have gone through Bethesda in five years decided to leave her last year to play for a another local ECNL club. Are there any DI commits in this graduating class? The ship was sinking and it was so bad that BSC had to bring in outside coaching talent. You can knock MRM Rush and KL all you want but if BSC wasn't the sh%t show that it is and was able to develop technically sound players, you wouldn't need KL and his MRM Rush players to come save your a$$e$.

Agreed. Don't doubt KL's ability to coach as he is driven and committed to the cause. However, his challenge will come with those few parents who have enjoyed a free pass for years, and still have close ties to "leadership" with multiple kids in the program. There has always been a balancing act to not piss those parents off, and they leave the club. The prisoners were basically running the asylum for years, and once they were finally told "no", the first response was they would pick up their marbles and leave.

Get on a team and continue to get play time and develop while saving money. College coaches are not looking at players at that age, so it's just a parent ego thing. Then in 9th grade, try to make the move, as by then most of those earlier ECNL players have gotten complacent and skills start to diminish and can no longer depend on size and speed as those aspects all balance out eventually. Technical skill and soccer IQ wins the day.

Seen this happen time and time again at Bethesda hence they struggle to compete at the older age groups.

Agree with above. Bethesda is changing direction and will get better but there is no reason to go all out to join ECNL at U13. It matters at u16 and you want to be involved at u15 or maybe u14. MRM Rush had a super competitive team that did not travel anywhere near as far as the Bethesda ECNL but the best players from the 05 and 06 teams came to Bethesda and replaced 6 to 7 players. ECNL pre-U15 is overrated.

On another topic, the list of schools here is impressive. Sadly, the girls side is not represented well. FCV, McLean and MUFC are sending most of their seniors to DI schools next year. Bethesda has a ways to go to get to that level.

This year seems to be more of an off year. If you look at their college commitments over the last five or six years it is a steady stream of DI, DII, DIII commitments: https://www.bethesdasoccer.org/commitments/

Refund Policy: Fees for participation in Bethesda Soccer Club cover the entire soccer year (Aug 1- May 31). By accepting an invitation to play with Bethesda Soccer Club, I commit to pay the entire fee for the full soccer year. No refunds, partial or full, will be made to players who choose not to participate at any point after registration for any reason, including players suspended from the program. Player Fee Insurance is offered as an optional benefit to member of BSC to protect fees in the case of injury or job transfer. I understand that by opting out of player fee insurance, I will not be eligible for a refund. So it looks like Bethesda will owe everyone a refund if they do not play this spring. The agreement is for participation in soccer. What is taking place now is not soccer.

Could you please move on to something else? This endless whining about refunds has become very boring.

Definitely a BSC admin on this board trying to control the narrative for sure. Why else would someone be on here just to put a positive spin on everything said.

LOL. Im not an admin. I wasn't referring to the contract part- the contract definitely sucks. I agreed with the sad discourse regarding someone calling someone else's daughter a midget. It doesn't take a BSC admin to know when adults are not acting their age.

Bethesda will always try to buy their way out of a bad situation

They hired a good coach because they needed a change of direction. That is not buying your way out.

Good move with the hire, but was coaching the root of the problem though? The BOD is still intact, and not sure how much of that he can influence. Long time families have deep roots with BOD members.

His national title came when all the best teams played in the ECNL so nope you are wrong. That same team with the addition of many top players didn’t even make the ECNL Playoffs!!

Assuming KL is a great coach, he’s still only a coach. He’s not the Technical or Executive Director. Hence, why do people think he will have such a big influence on BSC? This reminds me of the Washington Redskins. Every time they draft or trade for a good player or hire a good coach.......people think that they are Super Bowl bound.

He is the director for ECNL. This past year he started being the coach for 2 teams, ended up being the coach on 4 teams. Went to other games. Next year 4 Teams officially. A bit of a crazy workaholic. That has its plus and minus points.
