Sidwell college advisor leaves

Please don't forget - this is Sasha Obama's class and a grandchild of Joe Biden. Do you think for a moment that the parents applying their children into this class didn't know that? They had delusions of grandeur of hobnobbing with the Obamas/Bidens. These parents had little care for a Quaker education/values. Rather, it is full of climbers and movers and shakers. There are lots of hyper aggressive Finance and Journalist types who stop at nothing to get what they want.

Sorry to tell you, with little exception, Sidwell parents are normal and boring. They love Quaker values and wouldnt think of doing this.

The allure of being close to a popular (now ex) President, attracted a certain type. Once this class and its parents graduate, youll see a lot of normal boring move along scenes.

And whose fault is this? It's the school's own doing by accepting them in the first place. Face it, Sidwell wanted this type of parents to raise their own prestige. I say one deserves the other. I would also definitely hold the HOS responsible for college results.

Any school in the area would love to have high income parents that donate lots of money. Please get over yourself.

LOL, dirty little secret is that while there are many high income parents, they are not donating lots of money. Why is the unified campus at least 5 years away (Fall 2024 at least) if the school was raising lots of $. HOS has a lot to answer for.

Godspeed and good riddance to both of them.

Normal would be nice, but it's not likely to become prevalent at SFS. The school's been a stop on the Crazytown express for a long time. -- sign me, SFS parent since 2006 and aunt since 1997 (and, yeah, they had me at Quaker values too . . . )

NP. But none of that is consistent with Quaker values.

The parents don’t have Quakervalues. But kids that come out of there, for the most part, our wonderful thoughtful and smart people Who care about the world.

You clearly don't know anything about the value of education.

A school charging the tuition SFS charges is not one that espouses Quaker values. It’s really more of a gimmick now.

Washington Post and Today’s show segment Indicate no scandal at Sidwell......just unrealistic parents who treat college counselors horribly if entire senior class doesn’t get into an Ivy League school. The Director is ethical and finally had it after 4 years. His December email to prominent DC parents before other national scandals went public has gone viral nationally making him a hero to teachers/counselors in every Private School in the country. A Faculty member/parent told students he has turned down interview requests because he cares about the students and respects the Head of School.

And you are confusing price with value

If this is the case, then he’s spun it well. Unfortunately, others see him as checked-out, somewhat lazy, and very stubborn. Repeatedly refusing to acknowledge and address a whopper of a hiring mistake was just baffling.

Why are things like this "news" when they are related to Sidwell?

Oh my gosh, this thread. I can’t even.

You Sidwell (and other private school) parents occupy an alternate universe.

Shhh. Don’t tell them College of Wooster and Denison are just as good as any NESCAC school. Let’s keep that our little secret.
