Great Falls Reston Soccer

I’ve seen it over 3-4 seasons now: boys who attend practice regularly and consistently exhibit good teamwork over individual glory are notoriously overlooked and played less than the big goal scorers who maybe comes to 1 practice a week and hogs the ball every game. We are looking to move our kid to McLean.

Not our experience in the boys side. Certainly stronger, more aggressive kids get the playing time but not always the goal scorers. What age group?

I've also seen kids getting benched for not showing up to practice regularly.

Come to Loudoun, If your kid can score a goal big and fast you will always have playtime over other kids.
I know a kid who always missed a practice, some just show up once a week and still get all this special playtime.

And this is what’s wrong with travel sports

Look at the financial statement of London soccer and you will know why. NVA is now off balance sheet. Money goes to?

All I know is our experience at GFR. DS was asked to join a higher team this year but doesn’t play more than 10 minutes ever regardless of how well he does. Sometimes doesn’t play at all, sometimes is asked not to dress so coach can bring in guest players. This is obviously about winning and not development, but we’re won’t getting honesty out of the coach. It’s a frustrating position to be in.

What age group? At U15 it should be about winning.

U14, don’t get me wrong if it’s about winning then just say so. We’re getting the runaround from the coach.

You should be reporting it to Rich Shelton.

Terrible, report it! This abuse needs to stop. Coaches care more about their winning record than their players' mental health and motivation. Def, bringing up with that powers that be—terrible way of treating players and families.

To what end though? I'm not sure what reporting it would do.

I thought he was gone?

All local travel sports are only about winning. If you want to get developed, use training or encourage your kid to play for the love of the game.

Nope. He's still there.

But I guess that's the point? He's not playing, so he's losing love for the game.
