DC Public and Public Charter Schools

Everything is relative. Look what the other options are in DCPS. |
Langdon to Wilson HS is a helluva commute. |
Which goes back to the question of why he would have even considered living in NE with a kid in high school. Pretty crappy thing to do to your kid. Compared to Ellington, it is an easier commute if the daughter is taking Metro and it's probably also an easier commute by car/carpool. |
Curious, how much did he pay for his home? |
Kids do this commute all the time especially from SW. |

He should run for Mayor against Bowser. She hasn’t done anything, just cruising... |
| I assume no one on this board thinks that because Wilson went out of his way to move his child to Wilson High, he's racist? |
Well, you can get a much nicer home for that amount in NE than WOTP, that's for sure--especially if you have 3 kids. It's also a more diverse neighborhood. I wonder if both of these influenced the thinking on this, and he assumed the school situation would work itself out (perhaps with assurances from those in DC?). |
P.S. The house I just looked up that fits the parameters looks pretty nice, and also huge (6brs). Coming from CA, his family might be used to everything looking pretty new and updated (BTDT ), so they may have balked at the typical 3-4brs you can get for that price WOTP.

It looks like they lived in an apartment in Oakland, so maybe they wanted more space. Still, it's a little hard to grasp the decision making behind buying a house all the way over in Langdon *after* your daughter gets a lottery spot at Duke Ellington. |
Child didn't get a lottery spot, have to interview. |
| He will have to resign. I do love how this sheds light on the limited quality HS choices in DC. Much more innovation needs to be applied towards middle and high schools. including more attractive and interesting specialized programs ie. the charter model. |
