Are WS ID sessions over? The email makes it seem that there will be more throughout the spring. |
not trying to start anything, just curious... Is that really the case? I believe I understand the FCV ECNL 04 moved over into the DA, but an anyone confirm that girls who were ECNL in 2016-2017 were 100% the same 20 over the last 2 years prior? And for the 05s.. have they been 100% roster static? no incoming or loses over u11-u13 transition? Can anyone provide feedback that FCV girls dominated the 05 ID sessions? I would think that the DA designation might change the consideration/desire of someone to play for FCV vs FCV in CCL, NPL, etc. Plus you've got the new coaching director who could potentially change the direction of club and want a different development over what they are currently doing, which could require a different set of players.. different side of same conversation, all of these college commitments are on twitter/FB/etc , what's the quality of college programs these FCV girls are committing to like? is it reflective of the current results? |
(over for now until April) |
The 04's moving from ECNL to DA had some roster changes. A handful of Loudoun girls, a couple of moves up from NPL, and a few girls left behind. Probably 2/3rds the same. The FCV 05's are a good group, I would expect them to largely carry over into DA next year... they are advertised as pre-DA this year. There will be some dilution I expect, but I have not been at the 05 ID sessions to tell you how many girls from other clubs were there. |
I think the new player actually has to be observably and significantly better to displace an existing player on the roster. Especially if there are siblings & donor/volunteer parents in play. 'As good as' doesn't displace. But that's true of most rosters, I think. Good news, maybe, is that some don't like the coach or team cute every year and leave, opening up at least a space or two for 'as good as' newcomers. Even the Arlington 04 red girls--incredibly successful and tight-knit squad---had a player or two turn over last year. |
Colleges seem solid: http://www.fcvirginia.com/page/show/3158219-college-commitments |
did those two go to one of the new GDAs that started last year, or something else? |
Any recommendations on good camps or ID clinics for high school age players? Looking for ones that provide seminars on playing in college. |
Sometimes the college of interest may be holding their own ID camp so that may be a good start. Education should be the driver of school to attend in my opinion unless looking to go pro. |

You mean they didn't go to McLean for the ECNL?! That's crazy talk. |
https://www.soccerwire.com/news/clubs/youth-girls/forty-eight-players-called-into-u-s-u-14-girls-national-team-training-camp/?loc=psw
So this is interesting, 48 players called into u14 National girls training camp. 2 players from Virginia both playing for the same team, Richmond which is ECNL. It seems like this defeats the purpose of the entire DA structure around here... so you're telling me that out of all players in Northern Virginia, zero of them are good enough? Even with all the girls that even play up a year? And the 2 call ups happened to play for the exact same team? This seems like lazy scouting. So yes those two players have been found to fill Virginia''s quota so nobody else has a chance that that age group, sorry everyone. |
With all the talk of how you can get a pathway to the National team throufh GDA, sorry to disappoint you |
So your expectation is that those girls from Richmond would make the commute up to Northern Va how many times a week to train with and play with one of the 3 Virginia DA teams??? And having seen one of the two girls play, it is a deserved call up for her. |
GDA has competed for all of a single fall season meanwhile National Team scouting has been happening for years without DA. Richmond also doesn’t have a DA. |
