that is the advantage for FCV over the WS.  FCV can build their 06s and 05s in adavnace and good players want to go play there when younger to get in.  of course the training and development is a separate question between the two that can be debated elsewhere. But FCV will probably have better results early on, at least they have so far.  The WS says they need a better feeder system in that interview[/quote]

All true. the flip side is that FCV will need to stick with mostly the kids they already have in the pipeline to keep parents appeased. Probably not a lot of opportunity to break into the 1st team at U13/U14/U15 from outside the club.  Spirit’s a good option for girls from other clubs who didn’t commit to a particular pipeline at age 10. [/quote]

True for Spirit for now but an over simplification for FCV. Outside kids at FCV always get a chance but you have to be as good or better than the current top players. If you are just as good as a average starter or bench player then they will stay with who they already have. [/quote]

I think the new player actually has to be observably and significantly better to displace an existing player on the roster. Especially if there are siblings & donor/volunteer parents in play.  'As good as' doesn't displace. But that's true of most rosters, I think. Good news, maybe, is that some don't like the coach or team cute every year and leave, opening up at least a space or two for 'as good as' newcomers. Even the Arlington 04 red girls--incredibly successful and tight-knit squad---had a player or two turn over last year. [/quote]
