IAAM 2026

McDonogh lost their top scorer midway through season, def would have helped today.

McDonogh had amazing run a decade ago but not only did coaching changes affect it, but they stopped giving as much $$$ for lax.

MV just has too many weapons on offense

MV's first and second string teams would both be top 4 in IAAM. Just loaded. Will be interesting to see how the coaching change affects decision-making. One coach I was talking with noted that the transfer portal, and normalizing moving schools, had de-stigmatized high school transfers and club-hopping. Some really good players not on the field or even on Varsity may look for other options.

According to a member of the search committee, the current GCS assistant coach is being heavily recruited and, if the $ is right, will be coming to MV. My daughter is thinking of staying now. If she doesn’t many are hoping to get to McD or SPSG. Yay search committee on a great choice! Will leave GCS in a tough spot though since CA is leaving

Pardon my ignorance, but what makes her a highly desirable hire?

UMD alum. One of the best draw takers of all time. SA is popular and will continue a pipeline of Hero’s to MV if hired.

I thought GCS brought in SA as part of forcing out CA, to rejuvenate their program? [Is CA considered a good coach? She coaches her young daughter’s HoCo team.] That would be tough to leave for SA, including that it’s her Alma Mater. SA coaches the HG 34 team and is thought of very highly. Presume she’d have to bail on club coaching if taking any HC job for a HS. Why did SA leave Loyola where she recently was an assistant—2 years ago maybe?

She’s very young, certainly not a sure thing.

Okay but none of these things speak to her coaching ability?

No relation to these schools or her club team, but she’s an excellent coach and leader. That would be a big step up though from GCS, where she just heavily recruited.

Exactly. Taylor Cummings was arguably one of the best players of all time and had her ups and downs as McD’s coach.

She’s two years out of college, exactly how do you know this?

Have no dog in the fight and I believe young people can be good coaches. However, good players turn out to be bad coaches just as often as they are good. In other words, don't think it counts towards her coaching resume as much as people would like.

She may be a great coach, but at this point seems like more of an unknown than sure thing. But then again, probably as good or better than some of the other names I've heard floated.

Not understanding why MV is having so much trouble finding a replacement for BR

They aren’t having trouble, they are going through a large lists of candidates, they really have no reason to name a new one before the summer anyways.
