Will Maryvale repeat in Brian Reese’s last season?

Is Spalding the team to beat?

Are SPSG and McDonogh done?

What's changed for Spalding that they are anticipated to compete with Maryvale? Seems like Maryvale only got stronger.

Why would two of IL's top 10 teams nationally be "done"?

Why wouldn't Spalding compete? They beat them in the regular season last year and lost by a few goals in the final. In what ways did Maryvale get stronger?

McDonogh will still be good this year. Not sure about SPSG, they lost a lot.

Spalding was in the finals and didn’t lose much to graduation. They won Spooky Nook last month.

SPSG offense and goalie are weak in comparison to their recent history.

McDonogh has been on a slow slide the last two years. The rankings are based on the name not the reality.

Did Reese announce this was his last season as Maryvale HC or just assumed because his daughter is a senior?

He announced it. Prob a lot of upset 28 parents whose kid didn’t make varsity and now they are looking at new HC next year. I can’t figure out why so many kids all flock to the same school thinking they will be impactful like on club team.

The rankings just look like a repeat of the final standings in 2025.

Spalding overcame a lot last year with a bunch of underdog type kids. They won a lot of one goal games, not sure that can be repeated.

He told the team the week before tryouts this was his last season at Maryvale. 2028-2030 girls are already reaching out to other schools in the league about next year.

He over-recruited and over-promised. They have a huge varsity roster now and added a third HS team because the JV roster was so big last year. Like most coaches, he sticks with his core 16 players which means he has 16 girls who are cheerleaders who say they are on varsity.

Curious who will take over as HC and will that person be able to keep girls there and recruit new girls? If not, the student population at Maryvale will be be cut in half!

St. Mary’s posted the scrimmage score as 12-8 on their Instagram. Why they would post a scrimmage score is the next question.

Classy. Like SR posting pictures of scoreboards after scrimmages.

From what I hear it’s very big search committee, involving former coaches, current D1 coaches, current D1 players and a host of others.

I think many followed Reese to Maryvale in hopes to get an in with MD program. In other cases, it was simply “follow the leader” type thing.

My opinion, it’s bad for the conference to have so much talent at one school, then at others, not enough in a program to field a JV team. A little bit of parity is good, and oddly enough the IAAM has never had as much as it did in 2025. Legit 10 of the 12 team could beat one another.
