Of course not. Obama knows how difficult and demanding the POTUS position is and he knows there is no way in heck someone Trump and Biden’s age can be trusted to perform the job adequately 24/7 365 for four years. This is all basic common sense that way too many people are lacking. |
A valiant effort to pierce the DCUM bubble but it won’t work. I tried to warn people here before the 2016 and 2024 elections too, and was roundly scolded for even thinking Trump was going to easily win. Of course Clinton was going to win and of course Harris was going to win. DCUM said so. |
Me too! I wasn't on DCUM in 2016 but I repeated the same warning over and over on many message boards including DCUM in 2020 and 2024 regarding how ridiculously stupid people were being for nominating Trump and Biden. Did anyone listen? Maybe a few but the end result was one elderly unfit guy being elected just so he could turn around 4 years later and gift The White House back to the other elderly unfit guy who is also unhinged! We can preach common sense until the cows come home but stupid remains a difficult fix. |
Both of you are ridiculous; trump is extremely unpopular. Not one person I know likes that guy. And everyone at work hates him, even though our office had to put up his dumb photo. |
Newsome has stated he won’t run for President. Will see if it holds true. |
then why did two highly capable women lose to a felon? GTFOH with your gaslighting. |
interesting because I believe the poster you're attacking never referenced "elderly white men." Andy Beshear is so far from elderly. he is 47 to be exact and doing nice things as Governor of KY. So what's your beef against him? ideally who do you want? Bernie Sanders?! |
Biden lost the 2024. Harris never had a chance thanks to Biden. Clinton would have won in 2008 if she had been nominated while in her prime and then she received more votes than Trump in 2016 even after campaigning with half the vigor of Trump and while up against the pendulum momentum swing to the GOP after 8 years of a Dem POTUS. A woman will be POTUS soon enough as long as potential supporters don't create unnecessary barriers for them by suggesting "they aren't capable of winning" because of their gender. The same misguided people said "America will never elect a POC" right up until the day an elite politician who was also a POC became on of the most popular Dem nominees in modern history. That POTUS was elected twice by winning many of the same swing states Trump and Biden won and while running against two well qualified and formidable "white men" opponents who were much stronger POTUS candidates than Trump and Biden. That two term successful POTUS didn't win because he was a man or a Christian or a POC or for any other irrelevant characteristic. He won because he was a great communicator who was likable and exhibited elite leadership qualities. Be on the look out for the likable communicators with elite leadership skills and stop limiting that scope by suggesting what's between a candidate legs can be a disqualifying factor. |
I can agree with most of this to an extent. Obama is a great communicator and exhibits elite leadership qualities. I also know that race played a role in him winning. The way he brought out POC who never ever cared about politics. some of the same ones that stayed home in 2016. Also, he won because he didn't make white Americans feel bad for horrible history of the country or folks racist mindsets. He was very clever not to address race issues head on during his campaign. That made people "feel good." This is key. Unfortunately, the country went backwards and poc are not going to shut up and be quiet when folks are showing their arse. speaking up makes you all uncomfortable. but we are supposed to be uncomfortable while you talk and act reckless towards us. Not in 2025 and beyond buddy. |
I'm all for giving all multi-term state governors a fair chance to introduce themselves and their campaign platforms to the American people in 2027 & 2028. Beshear is without a doubt one of those I hope to see throw his hat in the ring ahead of the 2028 election. Three multi term POTUSs who served as POTUS for 24 out of the past 44 years were also multi-term state governors. While multi-term governors historically make for promising POTUS candidates, there is no reason to suggest should be prioritized over other potentially promising candidates. Obama has one Senate term under his belt when he was nominated and elected and most would agree that he was a more successful and popular POTUS than his predecessor who was a multi term state governor. We should all hope for a day when both parties return to have open and fair primaries with half a dozen to a dozen well qualified and fit candidates. No otherwise qualified and fit candidate should be considered not viable because they never served as a governor, or because of their gender, race, or religious beliefs. If a candidate of any background emerges victorious in a crowded field of well-qualified and fit primary contenders, they are the best nominee a party is capable of putting forward. Period. The end. |
^We would all love this! I haven’t seen anyone in this thread argue against that. |
Who is talking or acting reckless towards you on this political message board? We are attempting to have productive political discussion. I disagreed with a previous poster who is of the mindset that women aren't capable of being elected POTUS and therefore only men should be considered for major party nominations in 2028. I stand firmly against that belief as I am certain a limited scope in a search for a next major party nominee is the definition of a losing strategy; especially for a party that suffered great political fallout due to the failures of a recently elected token elderly white male. I do sometimes unnecessarily use demeaning terms like idiot, dimwit, moron.. when responding to posts that get me riled up. I do sincerely apologize if I directed such unnecessary language at you or anyone else who may be reading this. We are all on the same team seeking a better way forward! |
Well, yes. Federal workers hate him. That is not surprising. |
the comment wasn't about this political message board. it was about the real world outside of this board. and I stand firmly with the poster that said women or a person of color is likely to not become president in 2028. I believe this because of the environment we are in as a country right now. We need to take the temperature down. Things have gotten out of hand. it's just all too much. I agree that we need a moderate candidate. can we have a moderate women or person of color--absolutely! but who? the reality right now is that these candidates will be forced into culture wars. And it will be the republicans that bait us into it as they always do. for example, a person of color candidate will have to address race related issues with various communities. Look at what happened to Harris? Do you think she really wanted to spend time talking about creating an opportunity economy specifically for black men? what I took from the initial poster's comment is that for 2028 we need we absolutely need a good moderate candidate that won't get dragged into culture wars. The advantage of the white male is that he can more easily connect with independent / moderate voters. Women and a person of color candidate will get put the ringer a lot more. there's so much more they have to do to connect with that audience. it's not the easy sell. I don't know about you, but I don't want us getting dragged into culture wars. we have to get back to discussing kitchen table issues. as we can see, Americans wills sellout our neighbors for $1 cheaper eggs and gas. |
Just scroll up through the quotes you replied to and you’ll see it.
Get out of the DMV bubble and you’ll see how popular he is. It’s pretty scary |
