No need to argue where to go or who’s doing what. Every person on here knows their daughter will be at both tryouts if they don’t conflict. I don’t have a horse in the race but it’s hard to argue caps continued high college placement while M and D DC has nothing at all. Anybody in their right mind can figure out what they should do from that stat alone. And M and D DC folks will always play second fiddle in recruiting behind the real M and D team in MD. When college coaches call and they say I need such and such player, their not going to M and D DC over the MD girls. Not now, not ever lol!

Unless you are a cap blue koolaid drinker, there is no doubt that something has to change. The HS only model is outdated, and it is setting them up for girls getting gobbled up by heros and m&d, or any local competitors that are able to attract ES and MS talent, develop them, and convince them to stay through HS. At this point, there are no legit local competitors, but these are the near term options for 2029s:

1) BLC parents and coaches- convince the 5-6 best M&D DC kids to come to cap blue. BLC 2029 is an ok team, but they really need all of the M&D DC top players to come over. If they miss out on any, especially #17 who is no doubt getting recruited by heros green and m&d black, they will just be what BLC is now, a decent top 25 and second bracket team. I don’t think that there is anyone on the team that will be able to upgrade to heros green or m&d black.
2) M&D DC parents can either try out for heros green or m&d black, but IMO only #17 is a take for either. Or they can convince some BLC top talent that it is worth the risk to come play for them and the new recruiting coordinator.

Or, they can just continue what they're doing, which is improving for now up to a top 10 team in the country, and have all eyes on them against the top teams in the country. Maybe take (not convince) a couple BLC's if they fit and are upgrades as a team, they have room for a few.

Yes convince. M&D DC’s ranking is due to a relatively weak fall schedule combined with playing nobodies this winter. They have one decent win this year against a tired Integrity team. Yes, M&D DC is a decent team, but you shouldn’t act like it is obvious for BLC girls to come over. Maybe if you actually were able to beat BLC the choice would be easier, but as it stands now, BLC owns you guys and Cap Blue is a safer bet for HS players.

If the top 6 from BLC, top 6 from Pride, and top 6 from NL join together, they will compete with the top teams in the country easily. Whoever can make that work, will have a stellar 29 recruiting class.

Whatever, 8th grade club team strategy-meister. They were around 15 for all of last year, now 10. Where lots of Capital teams strive to be and don't make it to, and I hear they're awesome. I'm fairly sure the computer that inputs 1000's of results for 100's of teams does a better job than you evaluating who played tired teams.

I said maybe and if they wanted to, not that they needed to or it was obvious they'd even want to. The point was they can just keep doing what they're doing, they seem to be doing fine. All the desperate pleas on the 29 thread from Cap boosters is confirmation.

LOL, I’m not a Cap fanboy, I’m actually one of the ones on here saying they need to change their model. My point was to give you a dose of reality, as M&D DC/NL has never won anything ever and has a terrible recruiting record. It isn’t a layup that kids stay on there, and I know a few of the best ones are already looking at Cap Blue and other better programs. You do need to convince them to come over, maybe beat them finally?

Judging by the comments and the families I have talked to, most seem that they are going through the same calculation that I laid out above. Will your kid be one of the ones left on M&D DC as they fade into rankings obscurity after players like 17 and 14 leave or will you and the program convince the best BLC players to come over and your best to stay? Those really are the choices. HG, the real M&D, CM, YJLI, 91 roar, etc will all improve their rosters, even if you keep all NL girls together, that squad will never compete with the top teams in HS. You absolutely need those BLC girls. You know, the ones that always beat you.
