Anyone who thinks Trump will not steal their social security is an idiot.

Vote Blue all the way down that ballot.

He has a long record of opposing women's reproductive rights.

I have no problems with this at all.

“ Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan vetoed a measure Friday that would expand access to abortion in the state by ending a restriction that only physicians can provide them and requiring most insurance plans to cover abortion care without cost“

The question isn't whether or not you have problems with the bill about women's reproductive health care that Hogan vetoed. The question is whether Hogan has a long record of opposing women's reproductive rights. And the answer is: yes, he does.

And what we are saying is the article you linked doesn’t demonstrate an opposition to women’s reproductive rights. If my daughter needed/wanted an abortion I sure as eff wouldn’t want a midwife performing it.

She had the weight of Raskin and the party behind her.

Interestingly, she doesn’t speak in her own commercial with Raskin. She’s not that impressive.

I recognized a beloved mcps teacher/admin in Trone’s commercial—a black woman. Interesting that a black female educator didn’t support Alsobrooks.

I bet Hogan will win. Long history of black candidates from PG County who simply can’t carry the state. Plus: he has name recognition.

Hogan never had to run in a presidential election year. Plus, senators and governors are very different. People will be thinking about the Supreme Court. These two factors should get Alsobrooks to 51%.

It’s obvious there are several DCUM posters focused on the Supreme Court, but I think you are overestimating how much the average moderate in say Howard or Anne Arundel or Frederick counties is focused on it. I think it’s obvious Alsobrooks will do well in MoCo and PG, but it’s the other large counties that aren’t as deep Blue as MoCo and PG that will really decide this race.

I think you're underestimating how many people believe women should have reproductive rights, and vote accordingly.

FFS, there’s more to politics than abortion. Will you PLEASE stop being so myopic?!?!

Trone would’ve been an equally pro choice candidate, but would’ve also been a true Progressive in other areas. Meanwhile Alsobrooks defended white cops who routinely abused Black people in PG.

There’s more to politics than just reproductive choice. Other issues matter too, but you don’t care about them.

Shameful.

So here's who will be on the ballot in November: Alsobrooks, and Hogan.

Who is better on your True Progressive issues?

For what it's worth, Trone has been my congressman, I voted for him, and he's never been a True Progressive.

Hogan is a Republican that is a NO VOTE period.

If Hogan wins Republicans have a strong chance to keep the Senate god help us if that happens.

We are not voting Republican ie Hogan vs Dem Angela we are voting to save Democracy, women's rights, civil rights, to keep the DOJ FBI, social security, medicare, and health ins (where is the GOP plan for Health ins bec they keep claiming Trump has a better plan) and for God's sake who the hell votes in the party of Putin, Christian Nationalism (morons ie which religion will it be???), no guns (yeah dictators ie Trump or any repuke will not allow the little people to have guns),

Again this is not about Hogan it's about the US surviving this coup!

You sound like a total LWNJ.

Hogan's veto actually does demonstrate an opposition to women's reproductive rights. The law (vetoed by Hogan, overriden by the General Assembly) allows nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and physician assistants to be abortion providers. It doesn't require or force anybody to use a nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, or physician assistant as their abortion provider.

In 2023, 63% of abortions in the US were medication abortions. I.e., pills.

Which is... not what the bill Higan vetoed is about. The vast majority of abortions are medication based, there was no reason to restrict those to physicians.

Bear with me, as math isn’t my forte, but that still leaves another 37% of abortions that cannot be provided through use of a pill only. I have no issue with ensuring the care provided to those women is done by a physician.

I prefer to allow medical professionals to make the decisions about who is qualified to be an abortion provider. Which is kind of the point of the whole thing, actually. The decision should be made by the pregnant person and the medical professional.

Not to mention the PP is ignoring the insurance requirement. Making women pay out of pocket for abortion care when they have health insurance is pretty sick.
