David Trone for senate

Good for you. Some of us have principles though. And Alsobrooks is essentially a Bush-era cop-loving conservative. She was a prosecutor. She defended cops and prosecuted Black people.

This is who you think we should send to the Senate?

I’m not.

Trones loss only reaffirms the power of the MD Democratic Party establishment. They could care less about democracy.

You know people voted, right? And Trone got trounced? He's a bad campaigner. I'm a life long Democrat and absolutely would have supported him had he won the primary, but the guy has all the finesse of a blunt axe. His blanketing constant ads turn people off him. They have for ages.

What are you arguing about? It has nothing to do with the post you’re replying to.

Saying Trone's loss indicates people don't care about democracy when Trone got trounced in a vote is a joke. Alsobrooks wasn't appointed, she was selected by the voters.

Criminals should be sent to jail whatever their race.

My sister is both a prosecutor.

You want ethical people in those positions, you don't want prosecutorial discretion ceded to conservatives. The idea that she's untrustworthy because she did her job is really unrealistic. This isn't different from people who pearl clutch about former public defenders because "she defended a murderer!"

Here’s Hogan on abortion…he doesn’t support stripping rights from women.

He has a long record of opposing women's reproductive rights.

I have no problems with this at all.

She had the weight of Raskin and the party behind her.

Interestingly, she doesn’t speak in her own commercial with Raskin. She’s not that impressive.

I recognized a beloved mcps teacher/admin in Trone’s commercial—a black woman. Interesting that a black female educator didn’t support Alsobrooks.

I bet Hogan will win. Long history of black candidates from PG County who simply can’t carry the state. Plus: he has name recognition.

Hogan never had to run in a presidential election year. Plus, senators and governors are very different. People will be thinking about the Supreme Court. These two factors should get Alsobrooks to 51%.

It’s obvious there are several DCUM posters focused on the Supreme Court, but I think you are overestimating how much the average moderate in say Howard or Anne Arundel or Frederick counties is focused on it. I think it’s obvious Alsobrooks will do well in MoCo and PG, but it’s the other large counties that aren’t as deep Blue as MoCo and PG that will really decide this race.

I think you're underestimating how many people believe women should have reproductive rights, and vote accordingly.

FFS, there’s more to politics than abortion. Will you PLEASE stop being so myopic?!?!

Trone would’ve been an equally pro choice candidate, but would’ve also been a true Progressive in other areas. Meanwhile Alsobrooks defended white cops who routinely abused Black people in PG.

There’s more to politics than just reproductive choice. Other issues matter too, but you don’t care about them.

Shameful.

You know how our crime is better than DC's? Because people get prosecuted.

So my link is from a couple days ago while your link is from 2022.

Did you read your linked article?

He vetoed something that would have allowed someone who wasn’t a trained doctor/MD to perform an abortion.

Do you really want an abortion from someone who isn’t a doctor?

Has the world gone mad?

So here's who will be on the ballot in November: Alsobrooks, and Hogan.

Who is better on your True Progressive issues?

For what it's worth, Trone has been my congressman, I voted for him, and he's never been a True Progressive.

Your link is about words he said recently. My link is about his actual actions as governor.

Do I think that Maryland law should allow nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and physician assistants to be abortion providers? Yes, I do. And because the General Assembly overrode Hogan's veto, Maryland law allows them to do so.

Yes, my sister is a prosecutor. She put away a guy who raped and impregnated his 13 year old niece Poor girl's family turned on her and kicked her out. When the jury came back with the guilty, the girl cried because 12 strangers sided with her when her own family didn't.

But you could also describe that situation by saying my sister "prosecuted a black man".

My sister also prosecuted a cop who committed a DUI while on duty and severely injured a pedestrian.
The woman he hit will never walk again. But you could describe that as my sister "prosecuted a long serving public servant".

Nuance matters. Details matter.

The question isn't whether or not you have problems with the bill about women's reproductive health care that Hogan vetoed. The question is whether Hogan has a long record of opposing women's reproductive rights. And the answer is: yes, he does.

Hogan is a Republican that is a NO VOTE period.

If Hogan wins Republicans have a strong chance to keep the Senate god help us if that happens.

We are not voting Republican ie Hogan vs Dem Angela we are voting to save Democracy, women's rights, civil rights, to keep the DOJ FBI, social security, medicare, and health ins (where is the GOP plan for Health ins bec they keep claiming Trump has a better plan) and for God's sake who the hell votes in the party of Putin, Christian Nationalism (morons ie which religion will it be???), no guns (yeah dictators ie Trump or any repuke will not allow the little people to have guns),

Again this is not about Hogan it's about the US surviving this coup!
