If only Taibbi and Weiss still had editors.

Yet more proof Twitter was taken over by clueless noobs.

Bari Weiss isn’t exactly an intellectual heavyweight.

Well, she’s doing quite well for herself and is providing a great service to the Nation.

Getting spoonfed crap by Musk with zero transparency isn’t a “service.”

I'm not quite following all of this story, so trying to catch up.

As far as I can tell, Twitter, a private company, modified what people see. Some of which was per government concern of deliberate misinformation being spread on their platform, so Twitter took that to heart and tried to stop spreading misinformation.

And some of it because Twitter announced they would modify what you see anyways back in 2018 to reduce troll posts.

It's a private company, I don't honestly get the outrage.

There's a certain irony to having an "anti-cancel-culture warrior" like Bari Weiss combing through private messages at Twitter looking for dirt to cancel people with.

DP. She’d probably counter that she’s a reporter doing a public service.

Lmao. Everything she is “revealing” has been reported on for at least 2 years by Vice and other outlets.

MAGA people are so credulous.

I thought the issue was twitter higher ups denying shadow bans.

Has she revealed any evidence that what they said was untrue. It looks like what she is calling "shadow banning" was Twitter tagging certain accounts that violated the ToS so they were de-emphasized in search results, etc., but that practice was public and on their own website. It has also been advocated by Musk:

What exactly is a "shadow ban"? I thought a shadow ban is when you are essentially muted. You can post, but nobody can see your tweet. What Weiss is describing is "deboosting" which means that you can tweet, and anyone following you can see your tweet, but it might not show up in searches and won't be eligible to trend. If deboosting is bad, explain this:

None of this is new, it's all been known for 2+ years.

Twitter has several mechanisms, for example not having your replies show up unless the user clicks for more replies, not having you show up in search results, et cetera.

Seriously, these big "bombshell revelations" are old news.

You aren't kidding...

The photo on the left represents what a Twitter employee with access to someone's account would see. Note they can access someone's private messages.

It's even more hilarious watching posters like you deny that Taibbi documented that what conservatives have been complaining about is actually a baseless conspiracy theory.

It was enough to get Baker fired.

Their actions were very one-sided and they take cover under government exceptions.
