The average daily positivity rate for the last week for Fairfax is about 150. The county has 1.1 million people. It is time to move on and drop the masks. And rejoice about it! |
Ummm.... I think you should probably stay away from covid data since you clearly don't know what you are reporting! Positivity rate was not 150. The test positivity is 5.7% (hint -- it's a PERCENTAGE NUMBER. hint#2 -- it's good if it's less than 10%) The seven-day-average-number-of-new-cases: is 11. (hint-- it's a number that is normalized for population and given as "___ per 100,000 people). The seven-day-average number of new cases (raw number, not per capita) --- THAT might have been 150. But, it's lower than that now (it's 131) So your "news" is out of date. I'm glad you are excited, but reporting covid data is not your talent. Leave it to others. I think it was clearly a misspeak for average number of daily cases. Get off your high horse. |
No kidding. I made a mistake and the magpies jump on the shiny object rather than appreciate the fact that cases are so low that masking is ridiculous at this point. That may change and people can mask back up but right now it isn’t necessary to stop Covid. Thankfully. |
Accuracy and clarity matter. If you don't know what percent positivity is at this point, just keep your thoughts to yourself. You aren't helping anyone by reporting things that are wrong. |

And another thing, based on CDC definitions, Fairfax is at Low so masks should go. |
Fairfax is low, masks should go. Fairfax is low, masks should go! |
So so so happy that my kid is no longer in FCPS. |
I have several severely immune compromised students. I have no problem with continuing masking. |
What are those definitions? Are they the same as the "Moderate <50" they keep referencing? (I admit I find the levels and required metrics at the different levels confusing). |
Right there with you. Very relieved mine is graduating this year. |
Again, another person who doesn't know what they are talking about. We are not at low. The CDC metrics are weekly. You have to add seven days worth to compare it to the CDC benchmarks. Our daily seven dsy average of new cases is 11. The seven day ADDITIVE is around 95. 95 is not less than 10. (10 is the benchmark to be considered low). |
Unless CDC changed their definitions were only at “low” when we have, like, single digit numbers of cases per day. In the whole county. It’s really restrictive and based on old transmission data from like, April 2020. |
