How can you tell if someone is conservative?

I must be a liberal.

People can think they’re funnier than they are on both sides of the aisle.

I didn’t laugh because I don’t know what a towel charm is. I’m conservative FWIW.

I don’t get it either. Can some one explain? I’ve been a Democrat but will vote R locally from now on FWIW.

They have a job that pays more than $15/hr

So are liberals out of touch elites or people making minimum wage?

Its very big tent at this point thanks to trump. Come on over people!

It's more like an over-inflated hot air balloon, and Trump has a dart gun...

but it shoots blanks. See 2020 election.

I’ll busily load the dishwasher while you tell me about how looting is a form of free speech, and I’ll nod politely when you start ranting about how school is just too dangerous. I’ll never tip my hand because I don’t want my children ostracized or my husband’s business harmed. I bet there are more like me. Go Youngkin!!!

+1 this is me exactly

I only discuss politics with conservative friends/family.

Lol. Why do you have to hide away? That is pathetic.

Oooh that dig would really hurt, if we cared at all what you thought.
This is why we keep quiet. No one wants to hear/deal with you.

We got it. We know you are vile scum. No further discussion needed.

Ok. You’re vile scum too. And no one wants to deal with you.
We could go on and on like this all day. Not sure what the insults prove, though.

If people don't outwardly and boldly say they don't like Trump, then I know exactly how they feel.

Only one group is hiding.

The College Republican women were uniformly tall, thin and blond and very good looking.

The College Republican men were uniformly golfers.

The College Republicans had a segment of incredibly brilliant intellectually conservative thinkers who seemed bemused by the rest of us. For all practical purposes they existed on a different milieu than the rest of us. I found them the most intellectually honest and insightful people of all.

The College Democrats were more diverse, yes, and more unkempt and wilder and incoherent at times.

I found both groups entertaining.

That’s nice. Who did you vote for in 2020?

The rest is how they think we should all get there. And yes, each side claims the other side is harmful and damaging. But if you try to keep an open mind and actually listen to the "whys" of people's arguments, you'll find that the best solutions take both sides into account. We haven't done much of that in the past 20 years; I get it. And that's why we are all a mess.

Please start listening to people with different view points. Not the catch phrases everyone repeats, but why those catch phrases matter to people.

Yeeeaaaa.NO.

My BIL thinks kids are being sold in the basement of a pizza parlor in DC.

My uncle thinks the “libs” paid a company to change votes.

My friends H believes Obama is an agent for a foreign country.

My friend thinks the Democrats are going to seize all small businesses and have the govt run them.

Yea…. So NO

So…. NO

Don't ask about politicians. Ask about policies.

I don’t ask them anything. They feel compelled to “just let me know”.

Also seizing small businesses is a policy they think Dems will enforce.

Other policies … they think women should carry babies with no heart/lungs full term at let it die upon birth, they think that gay people should not marry/adopt/or go to church.

One family member told me people with PTSD should not receive treatment because you can’t fix weakness.

One calls my adopted niece that China baby. We call her Lauren.

So ask them why they are against abortion. what is their goal? if it’s the sanctity of life,
ask them if there are other ways to reduce or prevent abortion other than legislating what women can do with their bodies. talk about sex ed and birth control and wrap around services and true universal health care. make them think a bit about the whys instead of taking the easy way out of their side’s talking points. Both of you might learn something.

I'm a conservative woman but I work, wear synthetic wigs so I can change hair color at will, am pro birth control, and like Biden.

I'm a conservative woman. I work, am ivy league educated, pro-birth control, pro-choice, etc. The stereotypes aren't helpful. In my case, I became conservative (despite disagreeing about many things) once I got the memo on what teacher's unions are doing to education. I'm also disgusted at the prospect of spending 3.5t, respect law enforcement, and didn't appreciate not just having my window broken in the "peaceful protesting" but came to resent that I couldn't even dare mention that anything un-peaceful happened. Bye.

Also, the language “I became conservative” sounds…off.

Troll.

Yep. I steer clear from unhinged people and ALL sides are littered with them!

Let’s say you uncover a conservative at work or living in your neighborhood.

What should you do about it?

Harass their children and then scream racist and try to get them fired seems to be the answer du jour. Democracy and all.
