+1! Surely we can find archived web pages from the time? People were SO talking about it! |
Part of the answer is very simple: legislative branch and executive branch. There are strict rules and protocols on information sharing between the two branches of government. I also suspect that the political appointees would have suppressed the information for Trump. I also believe there are members of LE who fully supported the insurrection. |
I have a distinct feeling that this period in time will become one of the most shameful in our history. It will open up with one brutal killing, but not of an average citizen. It will have to be someone of particular status on the left. |
On January 5 military aircraft flew over our house (east coast but not in the DC area), and I commented to my husband that maybe they were preparing for potential problems. So there's zero chance that the agencies that exist for these purposes had no idea of the possibilities. |
J6 Committee and others have shown that there were NUMEROUS credible tips and warnings sent in to a whole host of agencies, which at best were incompetently ignored, or at worst, deliberately suppressed. And to this day, we STILL have seen no genuine accountability or reckoning with any of those involved. And now the House Republicans have shuttered the J6 Committee before they could move any further. I think the Senate and DoJ need to pick all of this up. |
FBI/DOJ definitely know who this guy is. Just wondering if any DCUMs know him since he’s in McLean with a fairly memorable name. There are some people who are still unidentified, though. |

Even though I trust the J6 committee, there is more than a teensy whiff of “they were not allowed to name the most important names.” And until they rout the right wingers who have infiltrated agencies, we’re at huge risk for whatever stunts the GOP wants to pull. |
Ok but it doesn’t mean they voiced their concerns to Congress. It doesn’t necessarily mean that information was shared with Capitol Police and the House and Senate SAA. Everyone thinks there is this Deep State or cabal running government. There isn’t a deep state. It’s a bunch of silo’ed organizations that wouldn’t know who to contact outside their org. |

No, I don’t think it’s the “deep state” or a cabal running the government. But it was very clearly and very obviously right wingers who have infiltrated the government, probably posing more or less as normal Republicans - practically the default in some agencies - and hiding their extremism. I’m sure it comforts you to think it’s just incompetence, but we have way too much evidence that this was malevolent and political in nature and in giving cover, people like you are giving aid to the extremists. |
