I could understand both legs swelling but why just one?
Adult (male) leg -- red, swollen from about ankle to knee. No injury. No visible or known insect bit. Yes, doctor has been called and he is going to in to have it checked out but I am curious what it could be. |
| Blood clot |
|
Deep vein thrombosis?
Any recent injury, surgery, or immobility? |
|
Blood clot.
Get it checked ASAP |
| lymphadema |
| Go to the emergency room, don't wait for a doctor's appointment. That sounds like a blood clot. |
| Also cellulitis, does he have any other symptoms? (fever, aches, pain) |
| Agreed: to ER for DVT check. |
| Get to the doctor now. I mean it. Now. |
He called the doctor ( a very very good, thorough one) and was given an appointment for Fri morning! I assume the doctor had some reason for not sending him to an ER... |
|
I'd go sooner. Is there an urgent care clinic he could go to?

| PP again. Years ago my mother was at the dermatologist for some routine thing and casually mentioned some swelling in her leg. The derm took one look and had her admitted to the hospital. She had a DVT. |
| Seriously. ER!!!! Now. |
His medical history is extremely complicated; no urgent care clinic would be capable of dealing with it. |
