Looking forward to the papers tomorrow with her new visit to Justice For Girls Canada.

Desperately seeking attention.

+1 there just happened to be professional photographers there?

Does it look like there was a professional photo?? Probably a local person or Meghan’s staffer.

I know you would love it if she disappeared into a void but I’m sorry - she came to work.

Besides the fact that all this this plane hopping from her mansion on the island is really bad for the environment. I really don’t understand the point of her photo ops with charities in Canada. She wants to play the Duchess role in Canada?

Visit charities, take pics and send them to magazines for coverage. Are Canadians supposed to be impressed like the Brits are of their Royals? Is it some sort of country swapping duty?

So she wants to be Duchess of Canada?

I feel pretty indifferent about MM. I’d never heard of her before this whole royal wedding stuff, she’s cute and her man seems happy. I’ve never been a fan of the archaic monarchy and fascination with the Royals in the U.K. so the whole Meghxit thing I’ve loved!

But I really don’t get what she’s doing now with charity photo op tour.

His role as “spare” basically ended the moment George was born. It’s not up to he and Meghan to carry the Monarchy, or to gain favour for it... that’s up to the succession line, who will positions of “rule”.

Certainly he has been a prominent member, but now there is the natural shift as normal life goes on. He has helped Kate and Will through their early years of marriage and child rearing, and now it’s his turn to look after his life. I’m not sure why this comes as such a surprise to everyone.

Plain and simple, Harry and Will hold very different positions, and that seems to get clouded as they’re brothers.

Agreed. These points are getting lost in all the hatred zinging through this thread. Harry's job is done - it's now up to William and Kate to run the show. They must be the focus as they have two future monarchs in their household and it seems like they are done having children.

Further, Charles said that its a priority to slim down the Crown's dependents. If you want to slim down, you need to give people an off-ramp to establish independent lives and careers. Once you're past the age of 40, the opportunities are largely gone.

The path Harry is forging right now is going to affect William's family. He has two younger kids who will need an off-ramp to independent lives, along with his grandkids. William has an interest in Harry/Meghan being treated fairly and maintaining a positive working relationship with the Buckingham Palace.

I think it's fine for them to forge some sort of independent life as their royal relevancy grows less, well, relevant. The real controversy is not that, but the way it's playing out and being handled. Everything from the claims of racism, whether it's legitimate or not, to unfair press and too much press attention, to the way Meghan sort of basically just ran away and wouldn't face the royal family after the announcement, seems rather petulant. And people have real legitimate concerns about the Sussex "brand" being used to make a profit. The Duchy Original profits goes to a charitable foundation, not the Prince of Wales' own pockets. But Meghan and Harry want to become financially independent despite already having a net worth people are saying is at $40 million. They're not stepping back quietly but apparently to forge a new life as influencers, but what influence do they have without the royal status? And they want to make lots of money as influencers? The other royals that faded away like those previous generations did so quietly to the country and lived a quiet life. But that's not what's happening here, is it? They still want to be celebs, or at least she does.

I suppose we'll see what happens. I don't think either are malicious or deliberate or cunning but I don't think they've handled it well or really have a good idea of how to forge a future.

I think they've handled it as well as they can given the circumstances. This type of announcement was never going to be popular and would have created the same press storm even if the Queen had made it herself. I think Meghan not coming back is completely fine. I wouldn't expect Kate to be participating in these discussions. It's for the best and likely allows the best chance for the family unit to come together and come to an agreement.

They are going to be celebs no matter what they do. That's just the reality.

A six week vacation, popping back to the UK (leaving baby behind in Canada), making the announcement, then Meghan flying back to Canada the next day without even a goodbye to the Queen doesn't sound like handling it well. That's just the way I see it. Then she was going to dial in to the conference the royals had with Harry, and then she didn't for whatever reason.

I'm sure they felt they had legitimate grievances of some kind but Meghan Markle's behavior was not what I'd have expected from a mature adult in this situation. It did seem like she was doing her best to burn as many bridges with the rest of the royal family. It was almost childish. But I do wish her best of luck in her future endeavors.

Well said.

I don't think she knows what she's doing right now either.

Because nothing like this exists in the U.K. lol.

More of a debacle every day that passes. They are becoming a permanent punchline.

It's interesting to a couple of rabid MM haters on here.

I'm in Canada. I didn't see coverage of this charity visit.

The discussions I'm hearing and seeing is about not paying for their security. That's it.

Do you all think Prince William is against interracial marriage?

He's probably not keen on Americans marrying the BRF.

I think it’s more like he’s not keen on bright, smart women. I don’t see anyone in his orbit that he’s close to whose anything like Meghan. His closest non-titled buddies are all football lads.

Isn't there enough speculation in the 200+ pages?

All he has to do is look at his wife and his wife’s sister for that.

Meghan has been acting pretty dumb this week. Fleeing the country? SMH
